A very good buy
We have had this product now for nearly a year and use it almost daily. We have always used this type of steamer but usually one of the trays start to crack and they don't stand up well to constant use. So far, this little gem has proved robust enough to survive regular cleaning in the dishwasher. It is smaller than our last one but it easily has the capacity to cook the quantity of vegetables required for a family of four or more. There is no timer dial. It times purely on the amount of water you put in the tank against a little guide at the front. The alarm goes off when it uses up the water. We are very pleased with its performance and the price is excellent.

recommended, it does its job perfectly
the product is so good, it works well and does the job. it is enough for more than two people, if you want to use all 3 containers, then it is enough for maybe 4-5it is very hard to know where to put the water when you want to start it just from the catalog, it took me few minutes to understand that water needed to be in the very bottom container that is direly connected to electricity, and all other parts are put above it.my recommendation to get its best performance is to boil water before starting it to work, this way you save about 30 minutes of waiting for it to boil the water, and it starts working directly and steaming. my second recommendation is not to use all 3 container, and use only 1 or 2 for fast and better result. However, you can add the third one after you make sure that the meat in the very bottom container is almost ready :).it takes about 35-40 minutes to cook mean and vegitables in one container when the water added is boiled before you start the machine. and that is great result, and the containers sizes are good, and not small, for sure enough for 2 people meal.I highly recommend this product, as it is very good and i am using it fore more than 2 months almost daily.

Excellent steamer
A no frills (lacks a timer) steamer with three baskets, which stack when not in use to save space. Called a compact but I would expect to be able to cook veg for at least four people if I wanted to. Operation couldn't be easier, add water to the reservoir, quick assembly of the basket(s), support and lid, and off you go. The control you do get (which I haven't tried yet) is that you can adjust the amount of water added so that it runs out (and the machine buzzes to let you know it's ready) when the food is cooked. Everything is easy to clean and seems reasonably sturdy so far. As ever, you have to "learn by doing" with these kitchen gadgets, timings are longer than with my old stove-top saucepan and steamer, just over seven minutes to cook a steamed (poached) egg seems like forever, but at least it's not likely to overcook stuff.

A kitchen esstential
I have been using this steamer for over a year now and it still works perfectly and looks good in my kitchen. It is easy to store and easy to get setup. The beeping it makes when it has finished is also handy if you are a busy person like me and forget that you have put it on.The water level is also marked with the time it will take to steam i.e. until the water will run out and also pictures of various foods on the other side which is the recommended time to cook those various food items for.I tend to use mine just for veg as I am not a meat eater and it helps retain some of the crunch rather than just having a big squishy mess in the basket. Of course, if you overcook veg even in this steamer this will happen but I am sure you will be using it so much you will soon now how long you like your veg done for.

Still going strong after 18 months
I bought this for work and it performs fantastically well.Nice and compact when you need to store it away, but when fully assembled you can fit a lot of food in to the shelves.Primarily, I was just going to steam vegetables to go with my microwave meals, but in no time I was steaming salmon fillets, chicken breasts, diced beef, soft and hard 'boiled' eggs, rice, pears and steak and kidney puddings.I very rarely follow guides, so I trial and error a lot of food and now cook everything perfectly (or at least to my satisfaction).I have used the steamer at least three times per week for the last 18 months and it is still going strong.I put this down to maintaining the base with a mix of white vinegar and water.I fill the base with the water and vinegar mix and let it sit for at least 6 hours and I do this every 1-2 months.I've just recently purchased another one for home and I reckon a steamer will always be an essential in my kitchen.

Oh My God Wat a Lovely Product!
Oh My God Wat a Lovely Product! I purchased this on a Friday and it arrived on Monday morning. I tried it Monday evening and it's so easy to use!!! It' s clearly marked how much water you need for every type of cooking. I's light, it's small enough not to take space in your kitchen but bug enough to cook plenty of food. I love the egg holders :) I love that it has a special room where the steam gathers so it doesn't drain back into the water you use for cooking. I find it's a really unexpensive product for how valuable it actually is... Tefal is leading the market with this amazing kitchen gadgets!

A good buy
Bought this to steam vegetables when I am just cooking the meat in my small slow cooker. Takes about 45 minutes to do carrots and baby new potatoes using the bottom bowl. The lid does fit all the bowls, but if you only use one bowl it has to be the bottom one as the other two are too big to fit on the part where the steam comes out. Some steam comes out of the holes in the lid, not as much as would with a metal steamer on the hob, but do not put your hand over it when you reach for the lid handle, put the holes at the back. Ow!The bowls all fit into themselves and the total space it needs when collapsed is 8" x 8" x 11". Mine has a switch on the side so it can be switched on and off while still plugged in. Switches itself off when it runs out of water, so you will need to buy a timer. Comes with an illustrated manual in the style of a kindergarten book for slow learners or Americans, but it's all common sense really.
