Breville Impressions Electric Kettle, 1.7 Litre, 3 KW Fast Boil, Cream [VKJ956]

Isn't it amazing just how many kettles are not up to the task for which they are created - boiling water to make a simple cuppa! Too, noisy, too cumbersome, too small a reservoir and so on.I recently fell foul of the temptation on looks. Yes, I was the muppet who purchased a kettle based on how it looked and how well it would go in my kitchen. It seemed like a good idea at the time and I justified this act because it was a reputable brand. Hah! It looked good but even that did not last as it was constantly requiring cleaning thanks to very visible water marks which just didn't want to come off. It didn't hold much water so needed to be filled each time I made a drink for myself and hubby. If you filled it to the max then it spat scalding water out of the spout as it boiled and splashed dangerously as you tried to pour and finally it was noisy, I mean REALLY noisy, there wasn't a room in the house, or the garden for that matter where you couldn't hear the damned thing! It looked great though...Anyway less of that complaining and on to this kettle. I admit that I pondered on this purchase for a while because I didn't much like the look of it. Eventually though, after scalding my hand for the umpteenth time I decided to get it. it was cheap and reviews were good.Looks. The picture does not do it justice at all, it actually looks much nicer in reality, it is neat, tidy and quite graceful.Cleaning - The design is such that it really doesn't need much attention with regards to cleaning but it is very easy to just wipe and leaves behind no residue or staining.Noise - This is nicely quiet, you can hear it if you stand next to it but not at a distance or in another room. Just right in my opinion.Speed - I have to say that I think this is the fastest kettle I have ever owned. Even filled to max it boils in no time at all.Pour - An odd one but it does matter. The pour is comfortable and easy. The design is such that you would not spill when pouring and it is not an effort even when filled to max. It's actually quiet comfortable.Taste - Another odd one but some kettles possess a strange metallic taste to the water. I'm pleased to say that this is not one of those.Overall - Cheap, reliable, well made, extremely easy to use. Feels good to hold/pour/fill, looks good and is quiet and fast to boil.Be silly really to debate it any further. Just get one.

Lol When a get a new kettle I boil it more than a few times to ensure it's clean and ready to use. This made my daughter run from the kitchen saying "Did the dog do a Fart". Lol it does have a powerful smell BUT it disappeared by the 3rd boil.. Now after using it daily & big Twe drinkers in the house it's always on the go.Wonderfully quiet and fast boil even when it at capacity, Fantastic kettle, the light is bright and lights up so you can see how full the level is at so helps in a low light kitchen at night when sneeking a cuppa and dont want to wake the house up. Even full its easy to lift and pour and thats from someone with Arthritis in wrists, hands and fingers. With the side handle you get a bettle grip and the kettle being plastic its lightweight. Its also a very attractive kettle so bonus all round. Extremely pleased so bought another for my Son and daughter in law-THEY love theirs too :) when my toast comes to it's end I'll be purchasing the toaster that goes with this kettle..I've gone through numerous kettle in my life but I have to say This kettle ticks all the boxes and is my favourite!Well pleased!

A little worried about reviews on reading that it was plastic inside and not metal, however, so pleased with the matching Breville toaster, took a chance and bought it. When it arrived, very pleased. Looks expensive and a perfect match with the toaster. Slightly heavier than I thought but that's fine. Boiled it 3 times before making first cuppa. Got the plastic taste! Oh no. However, read how to solve it - fill kettle and add 2 teaspoons of bicarbonate of soda, boil and leave overnight. Rinse out thoroughly in the morning and boil once, discard water and fill again and boil. Plastic taste gone!. It boils fast and has a lovely red illuminous light on side panel, showing how much water is in and also matching illuminous on/off switch, which glows when boiling water. Automatically switches off. No hesitation in recommending this kettle and I am very fussy.

Bought this kettle and thought it might be a metal one but it's plastic. With past experience with plastic kettles they can make the water taste awful. After boiling twice as directed you could still taste something and there was a smell to it as well. Filled the kettle almost full of water and added some bicarbonate of soda and let it dissolve and stand for a while. Then boiled the kettle let it cool and emptied the water then rinsed the kettle out a couple of times. Found that this done the trick. Plastic kettles especially that are new do taste strong. Apart from that it looks stylish is lightweight and is quick to boil. Decent limescale filter. We use a filter jug as well to reduce the limescale.

I went back and fore with this one, even though overall the reviews were good, there were several that said that the water tasted foul even after 20 boils, and after washing with Bicarb etc. In the end I risked it because it's easy to return with Amazon. So, after all that I can confirm there is no foul plastic taste with this kettle. I did not clean with bicarb, just 5 or 6 boils and left to soak for an hour in clean water between each boil and the taste is just fine. In addition, it looks amazing, oh god I sound like my mother 😟. So, brilliant kettle that boils fast and very quiet, no bad taste and looks really expensive, job done.
