Optimum Men's Rain Jacket Nitebrite Hi Vis For Running Cycling Hiking Mountain Climbing, Waterproof

Great value at £15 but don't expect the earth.
You can tell by looking at this jacket that corners have been cut, but for £15 it's a good deal. There are no vent zips at the side, the cuffs are elasticated instead of velcro (I actually prefer this) and there is no tab for hanging it up. However it is as described. It's bright will get you seen and it certainly felt windproof yesterday. There was light rain at the start of the week and I stayed dry. There was heavy rain yesterday and it leaked. The jacket doesn't claim to be waterproof, only showerproof. So, in summary don't expect a £50 jacket for this price, but for my uses (15 - 20 minute commute twice a day) it is more than adequate and excellent value at £15.

good value for money
I was forced to write this review by reading some shocking and really unfair bad comments! I know is "the freedom of speech" era and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but i really don't get the moaners who branded this product "rubbish".....really?!? It is interesting what do you expect for the price of half-decent t-shirt on sale? Perhaps those people should try brands like Castelli and other top brands which should be able to satisfy their needs charging £250 for similar jacket! The jacket is DECENT ENOUGH for the money you pay....in fact it really exceeded my expectations as i wasn't expecting much for 15 quid. Material is good and stitching is done properly, it doesn't look cheap(although it actually is) and it is really light weight. I don't thing it will stop proper rain, but it is probably alright for a light shower.....but who cares for this price? It is really bright hi-vis color and looks the part. The only slight downfall is the sizing - it is smaller than expected. I am 5ft 10" and 14 stones and just about managed to fit in size XL...but is a bit tight, so definitely you should order at least a size up from your actual UK size.

no need to spend more
I bought this on seeing the weather forecast for the Ride London 100. For the price it is an excellent product. Cut for squarer people than me I was able to ride with the zip half down to keep most of the wind out when it wasn't raining, and with the zip up in the rain I managed to stay quite warm despite the monsoon-like conditions. You do have to use the zip carefully to avoid snagging the shell but it is no big deal. the pockets at the back including a zip up one were a real bonus. I think the mesh liner stops you feeling clammy unlike those shells that don't have a liner. The slight downside is that this jacket is quite bulky when rolled up and stuffed in a jersey back pocket.

Flourescent jacket
Wonderful flourescent jacket keeps the rain and cold out. Only downside is that the zip gets very stiff and refuses to move. So use candle wax to free it up.

Just in case
For the price paid, it deserves the five stars. OK, it is not breathable, but it would cost more if it was. My days of cycling hard and working up the kind of sweat that necessitates a high end, breathable jacket are well behind me.What I needed was something bright, weatherproof and light for the odd occasion the weather forcast is wrong when I take the bike out along the trails, and paths that are near where I live. If I thought it would definately rain, I would do something else...it is a just in case jacket.I only have a short distance on the road, so if I want to take a jacket, it might as well be a bright one.I wouldn't recomend it if you are constantly trying to beat your personal best, or just working your bike hard.If you are just out for some fresh air, and spin round the loch, it does the job.Sizing seemed OK, I could have got away with an XL but I have room for something else in the XXL.

Excellent. Keeps me warm when heading off early in morning and coming home late at night. Arms at first seemed a bit to long but you will see why when on bike and your arms are stretch out. Best buy yet. Next morning pouring down and spent 45 mins in it and never soaked through. Pocket at back with a water bottle pouch on each side. Can't say much more but will definitely buy another one on pay day. Downside is amazons packing. Arrived in large box which could hold 20 of these jackets and packed with paper . A parcel bag would have done. Luckly I had it delivered to my work place as alot of blokes do so the other half don't find out you have money to spend and got rid of packaging in there bins.

A decent budget jacket
What can I say....you get what you pay for. But that's not a negative statement. This is a £15 hi-viz jacket and is therefore near the bottom of the list in terms of price. However, it does as advertised, it's actually quite warm and keeps the rain off (more for light drizzle, I wouldn't expect much in torrential rain). As other reviewers have stated I would recommend buying a size larger than usual to ensure a nice fit, especially if you plan on wearing thicker layers underneath. The zip seems a little flimsy, but also a bit stiff when trying to do it up, so I'm slightly concerned it will break soon.If you're looking for a budget jacket that will keep you warm and dry in non-extreme conditions then this will fit the bill perfectly.

Excellent
Amazon and reviews advised to order a size up. I did and it was too big. I returned the large and ordered a medium which fits perfectly. I'm 6ft with a 38 inch chest and good sized arms. This is a bright jacket and perfect for what I'll be using it for - running in the evening and in poor weather. On first impressions the zip works fine.
