cheap-as-chips way to expand your artist toolset
Having previously owned some second-hand Kuretake spirit markers (chisel tip markers for product design/design renderings) and being in the market for a brush pen (even though I didn't really completely know what that meant previously), I decided that this product was good enough for my needs - I really just wanted to get my hands on another brush pen.I did not realise however, what a 'real' brush pen was, and for the miniscule price point of this pen was pretty happy to see individual bristles and an actual ink-feeding system (there is an intermediate chamber between the cartridge and nib but I cannot really work out if it is gravity fed or not, I sometimes have to squeeze ink from the cartridge into the chamber to get things moving again).Like my previous Kuretake spirit markers the flow rate of these pens is very high - obviously I have no metric against which to compare, but if you are not careful you can be putting down some pretty heavy lines when chamber has a decent amount of ink in it. This has it's advantages though, and for someone like who is often trying to figure out the human form from imagination it is pretty useful as the startling immediacy of the line means you have to lean into sketches full tilt and take no prisoners with marks. For £3.50 personally I don't think anyone really has an excuse to skip buying this pen, even if it is only for occasional use. As for the brush pen aficionado who wants to know if this offers something different I can't really say as this is my 1st. What I will say is I got a cool little origami crane with it, and because I didn't check where it was shipping from I didn't realise it would take a long time to get to the uk (I believe it was about a week)

Very nice pen for a student of Japanese
Very good pen for what it is. Obviously nothing will work like a real brush with real ink. Not a real brush pen. Not a felt-tip pen like this. But what it is - a felt tip imitation - I'm very happy with this. The thin end produces surprisingly sharp and crisp lines. There is no flexibility here, it's very rigid - but man it's the best rigid pen I've seen in my life :) Perfect for writing furigana over kanji - in case you're learning Japanese :))) No other tip is better than this for furigana (Japanese ruby). The wide tip allows you to make lines of varying length imitating to a degree the way kanjia and hanzi are meant to be written. I suppose it's a lot worse than a proper brush in trained hands however for a complete novice it can be easier to handle than an real brush and it is very portable. I'm overall very happy with this pen

the best pen i’ve ever used
The media could not be loaded. i bought this after watching a manga artist use the same pen for his sketches. i found that this pen makes drawing much easier, the large tip can be used to black out areas easily.pros:- very opaque- no bleeding- easy to use- both tips are equally useful- nice to hold- doesn’t seem to go through paper despite being very inkycons:- none yet! 10/10 product

Three Stars Initially, later revised to four stars.
"I probably expected too much, but this is an ok marker, nothing special."This was my original review, where I gave it three stars.I have since become a lot more familiar with using brush pens, and I like the way the brush side works a lot more than I did originally. However, it squeaks when I write with it! The sound is so annoying that I hardly ever use it. If it didn't squeak I'd use it a lot more.

Great pen for writing Kanji.
I have been learning Japanese for a few years now and have just started to learn Chinese and I have been using the standard ball point pen to write. However, a friend recommended me this pen and I can easily say that it really is a great purchase if you are studying an East Asian language or enjoy writing Kanji. The pen has two nibs, one on each end. The first is a typical pen with a small nib for writing on things like standard line paper for example. The second is more of a felt tip pen only bigger for writing Kanji style letters. However, due to its size it’s of course is no good for writing on the same paper as previously mentioned. It is better suited to Kanji around ½ inch or maybe up to 1 inch in size. The pen works great and glides across the paper well. Occasionally it does spit but this does seem to be quite rare. I’ve been using this pen now for well over a month and I’m really glad with the purchase.

Fantastic pen!
Such a lovely brush pen!The blackest-black ink - I've had numerous people think that the work was printed out, because of the smooth and dark quality to it!The brush is lovely, no split or sticky-out hairs. You can achieve a fine line up to a thick line, with gentle hand techniques.Very enjoyable to use!...Plus, I believe that you can replace the cartridges on this pen, or try to refill it - which is great. (Not 100% sure though, so don't take my word for that piece!)

An essential
My favourite brush pen, I'm on my 3rd one and have also tried it in different sizes. It lasted me about a year even though it was one of my most used pens. I still use the first one I ever bought by lightly coating it with ink in order to use it for a dry brush texture.

Amazing pen! Add to your collection now!
As a newbie to the world of brush pens and calligraphy I am super impressed with this pen (I have one other brush pen that isn't as great as this). It is a pleasure to write with and in regards to the ink... think of the blackest black then triple it as this ink on paper looks amazing! Can't even put it into words. Waited a couple of weeks for it to arrive, but it was definitely worth the wait! Will be buying the refills when my pen runs out as I do not want to be without!
