Aluminium Pet Door - Durable Frame, Weather-Resistant Seal, Easy DIY Installation - Large

This is the best dog door I've ever bought (we've had a couple of others previously - they were ok, but not as good as this one]. Why? This one was was slightly cheaper than the last one I bought a few years ago; it looks tidy and I think it will stay that way for a long time, because the frame is painted aluminium - not plastic - and it's robust and well-made, and the bits and pieces inside are completely covered with the frame; the flap is flexible, quiet and appears to have a good, strong magnet to keep it closed [although it may blow open slightly if the weather was very windy...but not so far; it's easy to clean and comes up a treat each time; the cover is strong and includes a 'locking' nut, to keep it closed [has to be pulled out from the inside to allow you to slide the cover off]; inevitably, a few hairs collect on the draught-proofing fluffy strip down each side of the opening, but they're very easy to remove. I don't know how easy it was to fit, as it was done by the chap who fitted our new, double glazed door, and he didn't comment, but did it pretty quickly.

This is by far the best dog flap I've had put in my back door. My friend fitted it. And said it was so easy to install. My dogs have chewed previous flaps off and made a hole but with this one because the flap is so easy it doesn't bother them at all. Lovely and big for my 3 large huskies to get through. The cover that goes over to close is is very sturdy and clips in with a dead bolt on the top so it's very secure. I am pleased as I have had this fitted about 2 months now and it's still sturdy and very easy to wipe clean. 5 stars as I won't be needing to buy a new dog flap every couple of months now. Having had a plastic framed pet door previously that fell apart over several years of high volume pet traffic, I decided to go for this metal frame model. Upon opening up the box, I could tell that the build quality was far superior to the door I'd had previously. It is sturdy and fits together easily and well. Once installed, the door really does look pleasing and it matches in well with our upvc door. It maintains a good seal to minimise draughts. It is relatively quiet when being used by our dogs/cats (whereas the plastic version we had was very noisy). The dimensions of it are also really good for our larger dog as it has a generous depth dimension; ideal for the build of our dog as she used to struggle with the squarer proportions of our old pet door. Overall; delighted with the door.

Used to have a PetMate door with a solid plastic flap, which broke before our dog was a year old, so bought this when we moved to a new house. We got the large size for our 25kg labradoodle and it seems about right. The door has a metal frame and flexible plastic flap which feels like it will last much longer. It's also much quieter when she goes in and out and closes better to keep out the elements. The removable panel to shut the door off also feels very solid and secure. However, after 7 months the plastic bolts suddenly broke when the dog came in, leaving her wearing the inside of the door around her middle! I repaired it with some metal M4 bolts and it's now better than new. I understand that the bolts need to be cut to length according to the width of the door, and plastic makes it easier to install, but it would have been better if it was supplied with metal bolts. Considering that a person can easily fit through the large door it would also feel more secure when closed off, as the plastic bolts could be very easily broken from the outside.

I have had some of these flaps installed for years now. The actual soft flap part does need changing every now and then, they get out of shape or, eeps, have also ended chewed.. but the frame is robust and lasts. All our dogs use it, from the tiny Jack Russel terriers to my massive 46 kilo Giant Schnauzer. Obviously this flap will not keep the wind out, or rain or snow, if it blows from that direction. We have ours installed facing away from our predominant wind direction, one leading into the patio and one into a backroom, with each having a proper door still to our living quarters, to keep warmth in during the winter. But for our set-up it works brilliantly.

We have a UPVC door - so needed to get a man in to provide a new panel and fit this flap. He said it was a little painful to install - but the finished job is great. we went for this aluminium one, as we had ben through about 15 of the plastic flaps over the years. The most noticeable difference is the noise. It is completely silent when used - rather than the noisy plastic ones of the past. Both little and large dogs like it and use it without a problem. If the wind is blowing really hard (as it has been recently) it can blow open occasionally - however, we just put the cover on it - problem solved!

I'm a joiner by trade so found this very easy to fit. I wasn't sure about the plastic bolts but they do seem ok and we're very easy to break off to a flush fit after securing. The flexible flap is surprising good and stays in place well on the magnet. My dog is a large lab/collie cross and this size was perfect for him. He loves being able to come and go as he pleases while I'm at work and I don't feel as anxious leaving him and he has ready access to toilet himself as well as his food and water.

Nach langer Recherche haben wir uns endlich für diese Klappe entschieden. Unsere Kriterien waren: Zugdichtigkeit und leichte Bedienbarkeit auch für Katzen. Die Klappe scheint wirklich recht zugdicht zu sein. Derzeit ist sie noch provisorisch in ein einfach verglastes Kellerfenster eingebaut, aber vor dem Winter wird dieses gegen ein dreifach verglastes Fenster ersetzt. Hierfür werden wir dann eine zweite Klappe bestellen und diese beiden Klappen hintereinander bauen, so daß eine - hoffentlich - halbwegs isolierende Luftschicht zwischen den Klappen entsteht. Die Hunde haben die Klappe schnell kapiert und auch die Katzen, die bisher übliche Katzenklappen kannten, haben sich innerhalb eines Tages an die neue große Klappe (Größe L) gewöhnt. Bis zum Herbst wird allen die Funktion so vertraut sein, daß auch die Verdoppelung kein Problem sein wird. Im Gegensatz zu anderen hochwertigen Klappen ähnlicher Bauart ist der Magnet für Katzen gut zu öffnen und schließt dennoch die Klappe gut ab. Es handelt sich um einen Magnetstreifen über die ganze Länge der unteren Seite und keine einzelnen Magneten, die in anderen Klappen viel zu stark für Katzen sind. Die teilweise monierten Plastikschrauben erfüllen ihren Zweck sehr gut: man kann sie nach dem Einbau auf die exakte Länge abzwicken, so daß es keine Verletzungsgefahr durch herausstehende "Spieße" für die Tiere gibt. Außerdem bilden sie keine Wärmebrücke zwischen außen und innen, wie es bei Metallschrauben der Fall wäre. Bei uns ist nach oben nicht genug Platz, um die Dichtungsscheibe einzuschieben, deshalb haben wir die Scheibe einfach in zwei Teile gesägt und können sie nun hintereinander einschieben. Durch die Verriegelung am oberen Ende ist das Ganze dann auch fest verschlossen - für den Fall, daß das mal notwendig sein sollte.

acquistata dopo averne provate almeno 3 da fissare alla porta zanzariera del mio ingresso principale, vi lascio immagginare che dopo pochi giorni la zanzariera cedeva e anche le porticine non erano di grande sostanza: a quetso punto ho deciso di modificare la parte inferiore della porta sostituendo la zanzariera con un supporto rigido a cui ho fissato questa bellissima porta che fa egregiamente il suo dovere, è robusta, la parte mobile è eccezionale sia nella tenuta e flessibilità e la parte magnetica ancora perfettamente il tutto, la struttura in alluminio è resistentissima e gli spifferi sono quasi inesistenti. Ho dovuto mettere uno spessore in legno per ancorare il tutto ma sono molto contento del prodotto e della sua funzionalità basta avere un po di dimestichezza nel fai da te e i ottiene un ottimo risultato.
