Working great
Very easy install. Using it with the Tesla mobile charger and the 14-30 adapter for my model 3. Works perfectly. Charges the car until the dryer kicks on then stops charging the car until the stops and goes back to charging the car. Easy install and made way more sense for me than installing a level 2 charger that would have needed a load shedding device. I didn't need an electrician for this. It's pretty idiot proof and the 14-30 charger is fast enough for most people's needs with about 20 miles per hour of charge. Replaces my days driving in 1-2 hours with no problem.

Great way to add faster plug-in Car Charger to existing Dryer Outlet
BACKGROUND: North American Plug-in Hybrid cars provide 20-50miles of Electric-Only range after charging via a House AC Charging Port integrated with the vehicle Lithium Battery Pack. Most use a charger adapter that can plug into a 120V 20A outlet (level 1) but can also be adapted for a 240V outlet (level 2) like those used for Clothes Dryers. Using the higher voltage mode can reduce the charging time by about 3X. If you have a 240V Dryer outlet near your parking spot, this product can be used to 'Split' the Dryer outlet between the Dryer and the Car Charger. Simply plug in the dryer into the Briidea Dryer 'Default' Outlet and the Charger into the 2nd Outlet. The Briidea supplies power to the dryer during normal use and 'Switches' power to the Car charger when the dryer is not in use.MY APPLICATION: I have a late model Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In hybrid which is fully charged via it’s 120V charger after about 12 hours. This charger and most aftermarket chargers can also be configured to operate at 240V (level 2) and therefore reduce the charging time by about 3X. The configuration used consists of:1. Briidea Automatic Power Switch wall-mounted next to the 240V Nema 10-30 (old 3 plug style) Outlet. The dryer is plugged into one outlet while the charger is plugged into the other.2. Schumacher SC1455 Level 2 EV charger with the standard SAE-J1722 car-side connector and a 28foot cable that connects to the Power Switch.3. In my case, I used a 240V 30A Nema 10-30P Dryer Extension Cord plugged into the Switch Outlet on one end and then to the Charger on the other end.MY EXPERIENCE: The Power Switch worked flawlessly to provide about 500 kwhr of charging to date. The unit has a built-in circuit breaker and a Display showing the charging activity of the charger side. This handy feature shows the user if the charger is active to prevent turning on the dryer.INSTALLATION AND USE ADVICE:1. Power Switch Outlet Style: The Briidea Switch can be ordered with the ‘old’ Nema10-30 3-prong 240V outlet style or the ‘new’ 4-prong Nema14-30 style. Check your dryer plug to ensure that it is compatible.2. Connecting the Charger to the power switch: Depending on the charger Outlet-Plug style, you may need an ‘Extension Cord Adapter’. Two common examples are Nema 14-50P (4prong) to 6-20R and Nema 5-15P (3prong) to 5-15P. Use an electrician if custom wiring is needed.3. This configuration is only suitable for the lower-range Plug-In Hybrid Vehicle Charger/Batteries. Since it supplies about 3300W of charging, the charging rate may be too low for the longer range EV’s.4. Beware that the vehicle charging system may display a charging fault code if the clothes dryer is turned on while charger is operating. This usually indicates that the charger ‘lost it’s power’ and no harm is done.

Great switch for a dryer and Tesla mobile charger!
This a compact automatic switch which is very easy to install. The switch is very well made, easy to mount and works flawlessly. This setup is a great alternative to the wired Tesla charger and is much cheaper to install. I was able to run a 10-30 NEMA extension cable into the garage from the box for a seamless connection to the Tesla mobile charger. One of the best features of this switch is its own fuse.

It just works! And easy to install!
I bought this in favor of paying for an electrician to come install a dedicated NEMA 14-50 or 10-30 at my home. The electrician was quoting me a minimum of $1200 to perform the work needed to setup home charging for my Tesla Model 3. Instead I bought this, and a NEMA 10-30 extension cord that is rated for outdoor use and for the power required. The unit itself was extremely easy to install next to where our dryer is located, and works as intended. It doesn’t make any sound and doesn’t even get warm to the touch. It makes it extremely convenient that we don’t have to worry about switching off or unplugging our dryer to charge our Tesla. And compared to a standard 120v outlet, it charges significantly faster. What would previously take us 12 hours or more to recover in range, we can now recover in about 3 to 4 hours, thanks to this device. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting faster charging for their EV, and without needed to contact an electrician, or purchase additional equipment.

Purchased on 4/2/25 - work perfectly
I have this plugged into my dryer outlet using the NEMA 10-30 adapter. It’s drawing 20 amps at 240 volts and giving me about 22 miles of range per hour, just as expected. No complaints at all—works exactly as described.

Mostly perfect.
Have had this since the end of December 2024 and has been hooked up to our dryer outlet since then. Has performed flawlessly to charge our hybrid EV and switches over to power our dryer as soon as we start drying clothes. At the end of the drying cycle, it automatically switches back to charging the car battery, without issue. One minor thing, for a while we had no issue with the unit showing the accumulated KWh, but since a power cut at our house this seems to no longer work, and only shows HHHHH, which isn’t that useful. Fortunately we have a smart EV charger which monitors usage but would be nicer if this had not stopped working. It does not affect the overall operation of the unit.
