Q: OK, look, I'm a bit embarrassed about this... How do you get it to fold?? I've twiddled the gold bit, applied force without breaking it, no dice! Eek!

Lots of people have this problem. If you hold folded comb ends in both hands, then pull apart rather like breaking a chicken wish bone, the ends will pull apart and click into a regular comb. Having bought this for both my sons, one of whom occasionally has a beard, I would say, "yes" it is suitable. The teeth would be quite long unless the bear has been grown for a few weeks. It's a tidy and compact comb and useful item. As a potential comparison, his moustache comb is about one third of the length of the actual comb with smaller/shorter teeth. Hope that helps.

My son's folding 20T Kent comb is slightly bent from being sat on whilst in a pocket. The folded length is just under 100mm (10cm) so I would assume it's 100mm long if not bent. The 'tooth' ie comb section measures 75mm (7.5cm) when opened and the handle nears 90mm (9cm). Total length opened (including the hinge area) is just short of 17cm. Hope that helps.
