lovely hair henna
okay so i was skeptical when i first prepared this henna.i reallllly wanted to dye my hair because i’m currently growing it out from a pixie (it’s under chin length now) but i didn’t want the chemicals. my hair is naturally level 6 dark brown.i prepared a strand test henna and left it for 3 1/2 hours in the bowl covered with cling film, but couldn’t see any dye release and i thought maybe i got an old or bad batch. i contacted It’s Pure who were super helpful and quick to respond and gave me some tips, so I did the strand test on my hair and left it on for 3 hours, it made a subtle but lovely difference!I thought what the hell and did it all over my hair which was surprisingly easy and wow!!!!! the colour is so gorgeous and my hair is SO SOFT! I highly recommend It’s Pure henna!A few tips:Always use aloe vera powder! I use 1 tsp for 100g henna.Use a splash of lemon juiceLeave henna to ‘cure’ overnight! You’ll see the dye release on the top and you’ll know it’s ready.

Great quality henna
The henna worked much better than I expected, the colour was lovely and rich, and it covered my greys really well, they came out a more coppery colour whereas my brown hair turned auburn. I added warm water to make a yogurt-like consistency, added a little distilled vinegar to the mix and waited about 20 mins before applying. I left the dye on for about 2.5 hours. It takes a few days for the colour to develop fully, it deepened over a few days and appeared much richer.

Works for me
I use this as a first step to cover my greys. I mix with water and apply to my hair for 1hour and it turns my white hair in a hilarious halloweeny bright orange and then I move to step 2 and use indigo to turn my greys into my normal colour (medium brown). I think there are different ways to apply it so you get different shades (some people use lemon juice or leave it overnight, some wrap their head to keep it warm etc). For me as it is only part 1 of a 2 stage process the orange is ok as it provides a good base for indigo to work on (indigo will not cover white hair) and I get good grey cover without damaging my hair or my skin.I have sensitive hair and scalp and never had any issues but everyone is different so do a test to make sure.

Really pleased with the result
First time using henna. Bit unsure about this 'experiment'! Ordered and it came the next day. Well packaged. Instructions had a hole in the middle so I asked my friend, who has done this before, to give me some tips and I thoroughly read the reviews before I started! I have short, fine, dark hair with some white hair coming through. Have always chemical dyed before. I mixed up half the packet with 75ml fresh lemon juice and 75ml warm water. Left in the airing cupboard overnight. Left on for 3 hours the next day while I did my cleaning. I'm pleased with the result, though my 7 year old thinks it's too orange (but she has an opinion on everything!). Next time I will just mix up a 1/4 of the full packet as I threw alot of the mix away. My hair feels healthy, white hairs fully covered, and my scalp is not itchy (which it usually is after applying chemical dye). This is the new way forward for me. Actually really pleased with the whole 'experiment'.

Strengthens hair and colours greys
I’ve never written a review before but I’ve purchased this a few times. My mum loves it so much she always requests I buy it for her! It’s great for strengthening her hair as she’s getting older and it colours in her greys. Will continue to keep buying as long as she keeps asking!

Not sure if it worked
I purchased the indigo powder hoping it would help me tackle my stubborn whites. I mixed it with dark brown henna from the same brand and followed the mixing instructions precisely. I left it on all night. My pigmented hair had a nice dark sheen to it but I don’t think the whites were dyed any darker than when I used only henna in previous dyeing sessions. My natural colour is peculiar - terribly brown with red undertones when under the sun but indoors it looks black. This explains why my hair looks like two different colours in the photos. You can see my white hair has been slightly coloured which helps it blend better with the rest of my hair but it hasn’t been fully dyed.My conclusion is that I’m not sure if adding indigo to my henna helped but I’ll keep trying and update this review if there are any changes. It is possible that at the very least, the indigo will help the colour to last longer. Some people have mentioned henna drying out their hair. For me, this is not a problem. I don’t think the henna actually dries the hair internally, I think it is the residual powder that makes the hair feel dry. When the henna dries it does feel caked on one’s head and hair and even after an initial wash, but a good hair conditioner can easily solve that.

Love this product
This is the first time I have ever used henna/indigo on my hair..I have very dark brown hair with LOADS of noticeable greys. I purchased the duo pack of henna and indigo at first. The henna application was easy enough, I mixed 100g henna with tea and let it sit for 6 hours before applying to my hair. It took some rinsing but I got there in the end.. I dried it and the henna had done its job and turned my greys an orangey red. I then went with the indigo, I just mixed with warm water and applied straight away and left it for an hour. This also took some rinsing but managed to get it out in about 15 minutes.. I dried my hair and i hadn't quite got the results I was hoping for. I still had some brassy/copper tones to my hair.. I purchased another indigo and paid for next day delivery. This went in as soon as the postie dropped it off. This time I added water with a bit of salt and the results where perfect.. its exactly the colour I was aiming for. I think if your new to henna/indigo you might need a second application of indigo to achieve the desired results. I'm hoping I won't have to do it twice every time.. i'm pleased with the results.. you do need to set a whole day aside for this and ideally sit in the bath to keep any mess contained to one area.Photo 1 - my natural hair with lots of greysPhoto 2 - after henna applicationPhoto 3 - after 1st application of indigoPhoto 4 - after 2nd application of indigo
