Makita D-47117 Plumbers Hole Saw Kit (6-Piece)

Easy to use, & great value for the money

These are incredibly good little holesaws being easy to attach and a dream to use. As you would expect from Makita they do they job well and will stand a fair amount of use. The only thing I would say is that I've no idea why they are painted white since this immediately starts to come off after first use. Not an issue just worth noting

I’m not a plumber, but I like holes.. This hole saw set has replaced a very old worn out set that wasn’t really up to much other than burning holes in wood.Pros:The foam inner is nice and details the hole-saw size in print on top.The centre arbor drills are decent quality and nice and sharp with a flat on the shank for securing with the grub screw.The cutting seemed effortless through first cut of several mm’s of mild steel while keeping its sharp teeth for the next round!The larger locking arbor seems decent enough and aligns with the holes perfectly on the larger hole saws.The smaller hole saws have decent flats allowing easy fitting and removal from the smaller arbor.Cons:The arbor drills are a little short as they barely make it past the end of the hole saw. If like me, you want to cut at an angle you’ll have to use a longer drill bit in its place (easy to swap out so no problem).The case is a little cheap and the arbors have clearly been rattling about in the post resulting in a small crack in the lid (nothing major) a top foam might be nice to retain the parts. Plus you always seemingly have to align the lid with an electron microscope in order to lock it shut. Nothing that isn’t expected from this price point though and would definitely order again!

Work as expected

Usual Makita quality. Good selection of sizes allow for all pipes to run through the holes. The spring is a good addition to push out the piece of wood etc that you have cut to save trying to fish this out with screwdrivers/pliers each cut too. Very sharp and even after cutting a dozen holes in chipboard they show little signs of use with the paint still being intact!

After losing my old hole cutter and arbour I went straight the local fit stores to find a replacement but the prices were ridiculous. As soon a I got home I searched on Amazon and found these, a full branded set, for cheaper than it would have cost for 1 57mm hole saw and the arbour.These are top quality and last ages, I use them almost everyday

I had to drill through 8mm mild steel while installing some drainage on a steel hulled boat, this did the job without too much fuss. The first drill snapped but only because it jammed and I didn't have a decent grip in the drill, so it twisted. I lost one tooth on the 57mm cutter through the operation, again from snagging when the bit broke through the final piece of steel.All in all I'm well pleased with it abd would buy again.
