Enjoyed
In an attempt to read something other than Agatha Christie mysteries I have been reading British Library Crime Classics. This is the first one that I felt was really comparable with that great author. Excellently constructed story with twists and turns so that I was never quite sure that I was on the right track. And to my great surprise the last few chapters were set in my home town, with landmarks and places well known to me. A really enjoyable read and a real page-turner and I thank British Library Crime Classics for bringing this story back into print.

Interesting classic from the past
An interesting classic from 1930s. Fairly engaging, with a few surprises, and not much to go on, with plenty of guessing by the detectives.

Good read
Another excellent story from this talented writer, the unusual plot having many twists and turns. It portrays the means and methods available to detectives in that time period.

Another great ECR Lorac story
Another great story from one of my favourite British Library Crime Classics authors. Is the lady telling the truth or was she involved all along? You’ll have to read to the very end to find out!

Old-fashioned, clever writing
The British Library series varies in quality, but 'Death of an Author' is a good example of writing from an earlier era that still works today
