great band saw for the price.
Despite arriving with one of the door knobs broken (small black plastic fitment round the metal handle) - the door still closes and the cut out switch still engages, I think it's a lovely bit of kit. Setting it up, while not hard, was a bit fiddly (talking about making sure blade is spot on here) simply because being new to woodworking shop tools means I've got no reference points. Still think I need to refine the set up a bit as I seem to get a wandering cut now and then, but I'm certainly not going to blame the bandsaw for my failings. lol. It's solid as a rock, nice and quiet and smooth in operation and has a good depth and height of cut. Softwoods and hardwoods (mahogany so far in my case) cut with no problem. I've got a Record Power mini Lathe too and that's equally as well made and finished. No problems recommending this to anyone - especially if your just starting out doing stuff with wood. Oh, and while I'm at it, I did contact Amazon about the damage on arrival, and was offered either full refund, replacement or a healthy 15% refund on the price which worked out at over £40 - which is the option I took as I said it still works fine and I'm sure a replacement handle would be far less than that anyway. As always Amazon delivers!!!

Spot on
Arrived in record time ;) with standard delivery. Now the dreaded packaging that got me twitching a bit due to reviews but def improved (in my case) added corner protection over box and quite well wrapped, wouldn't survive a a fall but enough for the expected bumps and skids that will happen on journey and about 20 fragile stickers added that even the most tired driver couldn't miss. Inside packaging also good enough. For a small saw it packs a good weight and lifting is possible, JUST but far far far from portable & hernia expected if have to lift it again, luckily unlikely. The table is good and worth maintaining. The fence bit better than expected mitre fence just as expected but they would work if didn't go for own diy made ones. Setting up was easy enough and very good instructions inside that doesn't require google translator. Comes with blade fitted but its a must that you get good blade made for whatever its being used for. The one supplied is enough to set it up and check all is working. Totally happy with seller saw delivery AND packagingOh yeah and the 5 year guarantee

record bs 250 bandsaw
A decent quality band saw, and I have given it 4 stars. However I had a problem with 2 machines that were both delivered with the motor smashed. (One of the other reviewers seems to suggest he had this problem too. This is largely due to quite inadequate packing. The machine weighs about 30 kg and the rear cover of the motor is right against the edge of the packing case. If the case is placed on that side all the load pushes against a flimsy cover.I have written to Record pointing out this fault and suggesting the motor needs to be protected against this sort of damage. You might imagine that I would have received an acknowledgement as my suggestion would save them some money and many other customers a lot of effort shipping the damaged goods back. You would be wrong however and I have heard nothing. So in conclusion, a good piece of equipment, pity about the attitude of the Record towards their customers. Would one receive the same treatment from say Makita or De Walt ? I suspect not.

very poor
They sent the first one without a grub screw to ensure the drive wheel was turned by the electric motor. It also had a faulty micro-switch. Also, it weighed 33 Kilos and was delivered in a cardboard box. I have had paperback books delivered which were better packed.I returned it - using my own rope to secure it into a cardboard box which had gone five rounds with King Kong - and asked for a replacement. Again delivered in a cardboard box I wouldn't have put feathers in, it proved to have a micro-switch snapped off completely. I again roped it up and sent it back, asking for my money back. Any firm which trades like this should not be long on the scene.

Excellent Product
Its a saw and it does exactly what its supposed to do. I am an amateur and hobbyist so take this review at that level. This was bought to do what bandsaws do and it does it really well at my level. Comes well packed and with sufficient instructions to set it up - well worth going onto the internet to see some of the set up videos for bandsaws beforehand but not essential - saying that set up is pretty straightforward. It is straightforward to use and has worked really over the few months. I have had it no complaints about any aspect of the product.
