My Honor Was Loyalty is THE FIRST FILM FROM THE EMERGING GENIUS that is ALLESSANDRO PEPE. Set in the Second World War with stunning battle scenes and productions values normally associated with studio films ALLESSANDRO tells a history that few are brave enough to admit, let alone explore. This is the Story of Captain Ludwig Herckel a devoted and patriotic soldier of the SS Leibstandarte, He s fights in every major conflict from the Eastern front to the battle of the bulge. Fiercely loyal to his country and his brothers in arms, loved by his men, Herckel will face his greatest battle yet when he discovers the truth about the Nazi regime. This is the German Band of Brothers based on true events. It depicts a fascinating side of the second world war that was rarely told. A truly beautiful film that tells of loyalty, courage, sacrifice and truth it is not for everyone, but those who are courageous enough to stand we bring you

A Great Realistic Movie that Portrays the Comradeship and hardships and Humanity of men fighting for their country and Comrades
This was a great World War Two movie , not in the sense of Cross of Iron , Das Bot , Staingrad ( German Version ) that there was a huge budget to create realistic war scenes . However , the director created realistic battle and combat scenes without a huge Hollywood budget . The Comradeship was better presented than any war movie I have ever seen , truly the director breaks new ground in presenting the story of three Waffen SS men through the the eyes of one man and a common German Soldier interwoven in the story . Hitler and the Nazis gave hope and suppor and jobs to a lot of common suffering German families in the 1930's . This created a fanatical loyalty to their country which many perceived was on the right track of ending the brutal period imposed unfairly on Germany after World War 1 . The Waffen SS was legendary in THIER ABILITY TO FIGHT AGAINST TREMENDOUS ODDS AND FIGHT WITHOUT MERCY FOR THEMSELVES OR THEIR ENEMY . However , this movie brings out the love between comrades and THIER loyalty as no other movie does , especially as they realize they are losing one battle after another and both the eastern and western front are closing in on tne Fatherland . Once you realize the war is not going to end well , i.e. Americans at the end of Vietnam or any soldier fighting a lost cause , how do you carry on ? The director realistically shows that it is for your comrades in arms that you have fought with and suffered with in so many relentless battles . The hope that somehow you will make it through . The director also show the summary execution of Waffen SS men by America and Russian small units , as well as their elimination of Russians .DiDiet

B movie
without special effects but very rich in real tanks (sometimes used inappropriately, but anyway). Curious that one of the top units of the Nazi war machine, the "bodyguards" of the SS, is "enhanced". There is a bit of psychological deepening, with the young people who followed Hitler for the "ransom" that he had managed to give to the nation after the disastrous post-war period. The SS fighters were fanatical and extremely disciplined units, very efficient in combat also because they were ready to execute any order, such as that of not taking prisoners. There are somewhat confused clashes between the Russian front and Normandy, with the progressive "maturation" of the protagonist. It is not a bad film, but it is not the classic war movie fire, flames and special effects and it is not even epic patriotic (obviously ...) like the Russian counterparts. If the genre you are passionate about can watch, but in the German field Stalingrad and Das boot (the film, not the melense TV series) remain unsurpassed.

Re-enactor WW2 movie
This was a watch once type movie which has the look and feel of a World War 2 re-enactor type movie. The story is weak at best with basic acting skills so if you are interested in the uniforms and equipment of the Waffen SS then maybe add it to the collection. If this subject doesn't interest you then look elsewhere.

An interesting movie with thoughtful views
Film music all composed by the director a young Italian who made the movie on a tiny budget under great difficulties.11 x re-enactment groupstook part from Italy, Czech Republic and France. The movie is very well done considering the budget was around 15,000 Euros, a pittance. The acting is adequate considering the budget. Nice scenery and not bad all round, very interesting. The trailer has around 1.5+ million hits. They also have a FB page. It shows what can be done by creative people with limited resources. Well done to the director.

Extremely good for uniforms and equipment
Extremely good for uniforms and equipment, but little else to commend it. Acting by the main protagonists is ok, but simply appalling by the others involved. One thing though, it attempts to speak for the Waffen-SS as soldiers, but not the SS involvement in the Holocaust. Waffen-SS sometimes served in Concentration camps while their wounds healed. So, on the whole, the Waffen-SS did know what was going on in that respect. Having said that LSSAH were elite soldiers and the film is truthful to that, as is the despair that clearly Germany was losing the war.

Poorly acted, filmed, and conceived propagandist turkey
First off any comparisons to this and the HBO made ‘Band of Brothers’ are about as accurate as comparing the work of Debussy to Weird Al Jankovic . It is about Untersharführer Ludwig Herckel (Leone Frisa) who leads the 1st SS Panzer Division Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler. Whilst doing so he bonds with some of the men in his charge. We see them on various battle fronts. They ‘fight’ with some men dressed as Russians and later on some Americans. That is about it – and we have an unbelievable bit about a Jewish woman. The film is shot mostly using the shaky camera bit – we all know this is done in a vain attempt to make the on screen ‘action’ look better than it is. However, something does have to actually happen on screen for any maintenance of the pretence of action to be even in the foothills of believable. The uniforms are mostly ok, and some of the weapons looked good. The acting is pitiful in places and when people die they have to have watered down tomato ketchup spread across their mouths. The ‘battles’ are a bit am dram and clearly done by re enactors but despite putting up the names of different locations on the screen it is a bit obvious that they are fighting in the same field with the same armour etc. Also CGI planes that fly impossibly low, muzzle flashes and smoke that are photo shopped on – the list is quite long. Then to add insult to injury it gets all preachy about both sides being guilty of crimes at the end but the Nazis are only blamed because we had the temerity to win – to the victor the spoils etc. The film starts out by saying it is non political and then goes out of its way to be apologist propaganda for Hitler fans. I should have known that this was a turkey when the film starts with a quote from an undoubted ‘wise philosopher’ who I could not quite place in the pantheon of ‘the great thinkers’. It was Alessandro Pepe who wrote, directed and edited this lame piece of cinematic garbage. Anyone who tries to justify the Holocaust really should be taken to task – I feel dirty having watched it.
