Great choice for multi media artists or beginners
I wasn't sure what to expect from this paper - the promise of a mixed media surface seemed like an alien concept given that I'd previously stuck to specific papers for specific purposes. However, I was very pleasantly surprised. This paper really does offer a little bit of everything. If you are a beginner this is perfect because it allows you to experiment with different media without having to lay out a lot of money on many different types of paper. And if you're a more experienced artist, it provides a surface on which to sketch out ideas in multiple media, and keep it all in one handy pad.On the downside (there has to be a downside), don't expect the very best results across all media. This, by definition, is a compromise - there isn't enough tooth to lay down the best pencil or charcoal sketches, and it won't stand up to the rigors of a full wet technique watercolour. It does work extremely well with pen and ink, and it will give you good enough results for sketching ideas or for learning your craft. This product offers great value for monet (I know...) and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it. Give it a try, and I promise you'll end up buying more.

As a watercolour and mixed media artist who does not wet her paper through with water I have struggled to find a paper I really like but with the strength of the thicker papers and the smoothness of hot pressed papers. Here I find a paper suited to my needs. It is soft and smooth with a little texture to give a key to colour pencils, watercolour pencils, watercolour crayons and markers of all persuasions. I wanted a paper that would go through my little HP Deskjet printer without sticking and this does the job perfectly. I now can put in 5 sheets of this extraordinary mixed media paper in my printer and it prints perfectly my Dover Clip Art CD images. Then with a little spray of hairspray extra hold I am ready to paint................THRILLED.I have now tried throwing water at it with inks and paints and watercolour distress markers, ive used dylusions paints and many types of acrylic paint, both high viscosity and thinner runny acrylics. I am once again so pleased to say this paper stands up to it all. Ive hardly had any warping and the small pieces that have warped slightly have settled on drying to a flat base paper. I don't think I will go back to searching for the ultimate watercolour paper because this mixed media does it all. I can honestly say this paper is printable, water friendly and pigment perfect. If your wondering what to buy to use all your media then this paper is it.........I recommend you BUY this and try it......after all you get 50 sheets of 200gsm paper that is quite extraordinary.

Marvellous for most artwork.
Prismacolours, Faber Castelles, pastels, charcoal and ink pens, plus a light watercolour wash - all these mediums work very well on this paper.Best of all the paper goes through my Canon printer.I’ll not buy anything else now.

Super nice paper!
Got this today and tried it. It's lovely and very cheap for 50 sheets of high quality thick paper. I've been looking for cheap alternatives for watercolour paper, and this doesn't quite hold up to that label that watercolour can be used on it as the paper buckles and warps with more than a couple layers of paint. All dry media such as graphite and coloured pencils, charcoal, pastel all work lovely though! It's got a very fine and smooth texture and it perfect for dry media and very (VERY) light washes of watercolour. It's also not as white as it seems and is an off white cream/ivory colour just for anyone who's wondering. For this reason I'm giving it 4 stars as it sort of can't really be used for watercolour but is great for non wet media!

Ultrasmooth feel, but has tooth
I was worried about the smoothness of the paper when I first opened it, but it has tooth.I needed paper to work on for an urgent project, but my usual mixed media paper is out of stock or on back-order everywhere.Having used other Canson papers and found them good, I thought I'd try this one. It is a little lighter weight than my usual one.Because I needed it urgently, I opened it immediately to see what it was like. The feel of the paper is SO smooth - it feels like the back of a photograph - and is the same on both sides. So I needed to try it out asap so I could order something else if necessary.I put the first layer on the ground section of this illustration using inktense pencils. There is tooth! The texture under a light layer of pencil is rather like one of the smoother hot press watercolour papers.I wet the pigment, just enough to activate it and get a watercolour-type effect. After the ground area dried, I put in the first layer of the rock wall (again in inktense pencil). This is the stage of the illustration in my photograph. Hopefully you can see the texture of the paper under the layer of pencil (the rock wall, grey), and what it looks like after activation and drying (the ground area, brown).Things to note:This paper is off-white; it is definitely NOT cream, it looks white, but my white pencil shows up on it. (Canson also does a bright white version, which has a different picture on the front, in case that helps you.)Although the paper seemed to buckle when it was wet, it has dried out flat. I left it on the table. The paper still feels pretty smooth after finishing the illustration.I got two layers of pencil/wetting/drying on this with no problems. This paper is 200gsm, but each sheet feels fairly thick for this weight of paper. But it's not porous. It feels like this would go through my printer (which does a U-shaped bend in the paper feed).I have yet to test what and how much this paper will take, and will be updating my review when I have.Bottom line is that I'm glad I bought this paper. It is as good as my usual paper, although it is a lighter weight. It feels deceptively smooth.Obviously, this is all based on my first impressions. If this stops being accurate, then I will update my review.

I'm really starting to like this!
Good weight, good texture (mostly smooth but not a plate finish) good handling. Very white. Collage, acrylic inks, Artgrafs, watercolor, Posca, drawing inks, Inktense, Woodies, etc. Does not buckle too much or pill. Folds nicely for concertina type forms.
