Bought this book for my Grandaughter who recently moved to Chester

I bought this following other good reviews on here. A really interesting read.

Nice black and white illustrations and a readable text.

The only item missing is an in depth history of the roman fort , a good read for a student of the city

Bought as a gift for my wife, she is very pleased with it.

This stands head and shoulders above other potted histories of Chester. I like the flow of the text too - very easy reading. Good pictures too - and for me the pictures clinch it.In some ways this could have been an "internet" book with links to show where for instance the Steven Street riots were. I was interested as even though I know Chester well, I did not know this street. Eventually I found it was demolished some years ago and only recorded on old maps of Chester - which the local council provide as an online resource. So - could have been better for current locations of past events and places. I was also interested to know about Chester's Irish history - given that there is very little left in Chester which marks that out.
