Excellent book - but be prepared for a commitment
This book explains what fibroids are, and the things that are known to contribute to developing them in a very thorough way. It then goes on to show you what you can do to treat them by addressing several areas - diet issues, taking herbs and supplements and considering emotional/lifestyle factors. It works! The case stories are extremely helpful because through those you can focus down on some of the key areas that might be relevant to you.If you have a poor diet and a stressful life when you begin - you might have an awful lot to do! I already had an extremely healthy diet, did a good amount of exercise and had reduced the stress in my life, and was using natural progesterone - but I STILL had fibroids and they were growing and giving me pain and very heavy bleeding.Through this book I was able to take my fibroid treatment to the next level! I used a particular herb tincture that was recommended and a supplement that suppresses overproduction of a particular enzyme ( yes it is that detailed). Within 24 hours the chronic pelvic pain I experience was significantly improved - prior to this I took Ibuprofen all the way through my period - suddenly I was managing without! What Dr Warshowsky says about the Fibroids being a symptom of the underlying hormone imbalance is so true - but my doctors had never tried to help me in that way previously.Even if you can't manage all the changes that are recommended in this book - maybe it is worth making a start. This is such an important book. There IS an alternative to surgery. Thank you Dr Warshowsky for your gift.

A very positive book
It's wonderful to find a conventional doctor who is prepared to offer unconventional advice. I have multiple fibroids, and recently endured sixteen days of very heavy bleeding, after which a biopsy showed simply hyperplasia - in other words, my womb lining has thickened. The hospital wants me to have a mirena coil which produces synthetic progesterone but I am very reluctant as I have reacted badly to almost every medication from the time that I was a toddler and the mirena has many side effects. Fortunately, simple hyperplasia often returns to normal on its own. I was very impressed by this book as it offers many routes to healing. My diet is good but I can make it better. I also exercise but I can exercise more. I've bought raspberry leaf tea, oregano oil, clary sage oil, flaxseeds (and a grinder to turn them into powder as they are assimilated better that way) plus a relaxation tape as I am one of those people who struggles to switch off. I think that conventional medicine is wonderful if you need a new heart or liver but that, with lesser conditions, they sometimes take a sledgehammer to crack a nut. I'm recently post menopausal and fibroids often shrink naturally after the menopause so I'm really hoping that, with a few lifestyle changes, my condition can revert to normal without medical help.

Informative
Well, great detail and thorough information about why, how and what to do when one has fibroids. Shame I'm not rich to afford and follow all the advice through but I'm thankful for the knowledge which allows me to do some changes.

Healing Fibroids
When I was diagnosed with a fibroid, my doctor told me I should take it out. But she said it might grow back anyway. That seemed rather hopeless, and she did not offer any advice about how to live with the thing, or reduce its symptoms. That's why I bought this book. What I like about this book is that it is written by a doctor who asks his patients in-depth questions about their history and advises a more balanced, thoughtful and long term response to the problem. I really enjoyed reading the various case histories of women he'd treated and their journeys to healing. He suggests multiple ways to tackle fibroids. The standard response by doctors as to what causes fibroids, is "nobody really knows." This book makes a courageous attempt to look at the root causes, both physical and emotional - and that is what the author then bases his treatment on. It's given me a lot more to work with than a dismissal of a fibroid as a simple physical problem that must be 'removed.'

really helpful book
A really helpful read although the nutrional approach seems quite daunting, its a good signpost to self help and lots of good links
