AER - Memories of Old (PS4)

A unique and relaxing game, it's challenging with puzzle solving at times, there are chambers reminiscent of Zelda puzzle dungeons. Not too difficult. It runs very smoothly on the PlayStation 4 regardless of model type. I didn't give it a perfect 5 because there is a notorious glitch at the beginning of the game that you can cause to happen by complete accident, making it annoying to earn the Platinum trophy later on in-game.A young girl NPC might not even load in properly, and she's needed to complete one of the trophies. So her very existence in-game is tied to a trophy. This was NEVER patched or addressed BECAUSE it only has a 10% chance of occurring. Other than that, a perfect zen-like game.

There's a fun game here, and sometimes simplicity is the making of a game. However, in Aer's case, the game could have done with a little more to try and engage you. The world is fun to fly around, and the soundtrack is excellent, but it fails to win you over in the minimalist ways that games such as Journey do.You don't just run around, there are some puzzles to solve as well, but they're rather simple, and so feel like an attempt to provide more without actually giving it.Not a bad game by any means, but after one playthrough there isn't much left to return to. For me, it didn't make me want to return, but I was happy enough to see it through. Worth playing once, but perhaps £10 is what you should aim to pick it up for.

I liked this little game. It was very easy and the story was interesting. Nice to play for new gamers.

Full review to follow, but in short:- Beautiful movement and flight mechanics / controls- Mysterious, atmospheric- Completely non-annoying / non-frustrating- A proper adventure game in the classic senseIt's initially fun, and tranquil, and you might get a sense of not actually having to do too much (rather like something along the lines of Everybody's Gone To The Rapture - also an excellent game), but as you progress, and use your lamp / encounter puzzles in the grander locations, more elements of the game are revealed.It's spiritual, it's memorable, it's fascinating. A splendid, thoughtful game for all ages.
