Gave this book to my 8 year old grandson and have heard nothing but good from he and his dad as they read it together. they both think it's awesome and even remember some of the stories from the news.

The variety of different types of survival by everyday people are an inspiration to all who read this book. I liked the way the author want over how to use your skills and knowledge to show that you can get out of some horrible situations.

Great read, loved that the stories are short and kept me on my toes. Enjoyed that you put the dates and what Era it was in. Easy to remember knowledge on survival for young people.Would recommend this book to anyone who isn't all that interested in reading, you will definitely be wanting to read more in this series. And last but not least, Have fun with your office party make a marshmallow angel for us!

Although original reason for reading was to determine if suitable for grandkids, I found this book informative and interesting. Writing level seems about right for children. However, some review for accuracy would improve it. For example, the “Inches Away from Drowning” story was rife with errors regarding the USAF personnel and practices featured. While the story’s “lesson” had validity, the inaccuracies detracted from it.

My kids and I love all the stories. It is very well written and well researched. We all learned a lot. Plus all the stories have a happy ending.

This book is part of an adventure series for middle grade readers. That does not mean it should be limited to that audience. It is jam packed with adventures that feature kids facing their fears in a long list of terrifying situations, to name a few, sharks, tsunamis, grizzlies, shipwrecks, and slavery.The core message that to survive one needs to face fear is an inspiring one for children need to hear. The book appeals to both sexes, but boys who are reluctant readers, I believe, will especially enjoy it. Parents and teachers picking it up for their children will enjoy reading it just as much.

My nine year old grandson loves the book. He’s wanting books on survival, wars, history…he doesn’t get that from Grandma.

As with other books in this series, the stories are well-written, entertaining and absolutely perfect to tempt young people to read. Each chapter is a stand alone short tale of survival that includes a summary of the skills used in each scenario. Highly recommended.

Great book for kids to learn key to different scenarios to survive in scary situations! The book is a learning tool I believe that can be used for curious teenagers or even younger In age. The stories are jam packed with excitement so you will have a hard time putting the book down! I would recommend a great reading tool for a group teens to read together each getting a different perspective on each story!
