No regrets!
After waiting for several local chimney sweep experts to get back to me, I thought ‘to hell with it, I’ll do it myself’! So I watched a couple of instructional videos on YouTube and ordered this chimney sweep kit. It arrived by courier the next day. The day after that, I swept the chimney. Ours is an open fire. Honestly, there is nothing much to it. The kit itself is industrial strength and very sturdy. It does require a bit of muscle power to bend screw the rods together as you work your way up the chimney, but the kit paid for itself on the very first sweep. Very pleased.A few days later, one of our local chimney sweeps experts got back to me to offer his service... for a fee that was more than I paid for this kit. I counter by offering to sweep ‘his’ chimney!

Essential tool
These will save you a bomb and last forever.Use in the chimney or the drain.Thread attachment between rods is shallow, just 3 turns so when you use these rods always put a clockwise tension on them.Screw threads brass so won’t corrode.Tighten the cross head screw holding the rubber disc in place. This disc diameter was more than sufficient for a 6” pipe. You can get a very forceful pressure set up in the drain. Don’t risk losing this in the drain. I drilled a small hole in mine and attached a wire to it so if it does come off, it shouldn’t, it’ll still be attached to the rod.Bendy enough time go in at an angle yet rigid enough to push with force and not buckle.Cleared my blocked sewage drain in a few minutes. Remember to wear rubber gloves when dismantling the rods which might look clean but have been in goodness’s knows what.

A product thats stood the test of time
Have used them a few times now to clean our 8 metre flue. Whilst the ferrules feel slightly under-enginered they are strong enough to do the job. The only thing to watch out for is to keep turning the rods clock-wise both up and down because the ferrules don't lock and there is a risk of them unscrewing and getting stuck up the chimney. You could tie a rope or cord to the top brush as a safety net.The main thing is to use a Henry hoover or something similar and plenty of dust sheets as there's a lot of debris.

Great little set
Flexible enough (just) to enter Baxi open fire with 1930's chimney. Care must be taken with rotating the set as only a small amount of thread at the joints and they came apart easily. As a bonus they are stiff enough to use for fruit picking with an improvised collector head!!

Keep rotating when using
This is a combined chimney sweeping and drain rodding kit. It came with excellent drain rodding information but nothing about chimney sweeping. Suggest manufacturer puts in a leaflet about this. However quick search on internet gave assistance so no problem really. Key thing is to keep rotating in the direction that keeps the whole lot screwed together otherwise you could lose some of it up the chimney and it would be a bit embarrassing explaining this to someone else!Grate? product. Allows me to to sweep at anytime that something blocks up chimney.

Exactly the right tools for the job.
You get what you pay for, and these are good quality poles and brush.I bought these as I had crows nesting in the chimney. The poles have just the right amount of flex in them, though it does require a little elbow grease to clear any obstructions. They worked a treat though, and I am very happy (unlike the crows) the chimney clear too.My only gripe is the delivery promised by Amazon wasn't achieved. In fact they arrived a day after Amazon emailed to say they were delivered - through the letterbox!
