The thickness of the sponge, the singel is 3/4 of an inch thick and the Double is 1.5 inches thick.

Don’t know but I think it could clean smudges from from pictures without scratches.

Q: How do you clean the sponge? Do you clean it?

After several uses, the sponge can be cleaned with watm water and mild dish soap. Wring the sponge out after thoroughly rinsing, and let it air dry for about 24 hours. I have been using these sponges for many years, and done this many times. After the sponge is clean, store it a zip lock storage bag to keep it ready for the next use.
