Replacing this metal plate and flex cable will not affect touch id feature.

Q: The touch id does not work with this. is there something i should be doing to get it to work?

Only replacing this part will not affect touch id, but you must use your old/original home button key. If your touch ID does not work after only replacing this part, it maybe the problem of flex cable in this product, i suggest to change one more.
