Is the black cartridge a high capacity one for 1200 pages?

Always Buy The HP 920XL's Never The Starter HP 920 Cartridges.....Low Yield!!

When Hp sell you a new printer (Officejet 6500) they only give you starter cartridges with it which hold a very small amount of ink in them Hp 920 black and the Hp 920 colour cartridges c/m/y (STARTER CARTRIDGES). I was using about 3 black and 2 each of the colours cartridge per month and it was costing me a small forturne. I later found out that Hp do a higher yield versions of the 920 cartridges which cost only a few pounds more but hold far more ink in them than the starter cartridges which I was using before. What you need is a HP 920XL on the black which hold 26mls of ink rather than the 10mls of ink that is in the 920 starter cartridge and on the colours what you should be using is a HP 920XL cartridges c/m/y which holds 6mls each rather than the 3mls which is in the 920 colour starter cartridges. I can even go one better, I now use a company called advantage online who stock the Hp originals 920XL's plus do a British premium compatible 920XL cartridges which hold a impressive 53mls black and 14.6mls per colour. I have used them a couple of times so far and have been quite impressed. I hope you don't fall into the Hp trap of selling a very good printer (Officejet 6500) at a very cheap price and then trying to charge you load of money for starter cartridges which are nearly empty.

I do not know but if u go on HP WEBSITE and key in your printer they will list their cartridges that work

HP6500 print system failure

It would help I  knew the problem: "System Failure" could have been amplified. I have had a 6500 Plus for about a year. It has indicated that the large black cartridge was empty, when it wasn't. Then, when the cartridge was replaced, it required several cleanings to get it to operate. Apart from that it has worked well. A annoying feature of my new pc set up, with Windows 7, is that some files refuse to print via the 6500 - message "Printer not online" - when clearly it is. Fortunately I have installed a Canon printer for photos, which will print these files. Have you any feedback on this?From the answers you have received, the problem lies with the printer and is not unique. It's supposed to be a robust model and although (in my case) PC world will replace it, it's a hassle. I suggest that HP be asked what they are doing to fix the problem
