Poor.
Purchased four of these items - I am a nightmare with glasses and lanyards - following the purchase of much more expensive lanyards which have all failed. These lanyards are "cheap as chips", and I was surprised they appear functional and not too different from the expensive variety. The lanyard cord is pretty thin, but seems strong enough - only time will tellN.B Oh dear, I am afraid I have to amend my previous review for this item. Regrettably, in usage, the rubber/metal ring stops for the glasses arms keeps undoing, and my glasses keep falling off the cord! Just goes to show you get what you pay for I guess. Anyway, for the above reason, I can no longer recommend this item.

Excellent versatile product
I note some negative reviews concerning this product but I find these strings invaluable.OK, it's basically a shoelace with an expandable rubber ring at each end, as per the photo but I think it fair to say that mine has never broken nor slipped off the earpiece thingies of my reading specs.I also think that this is because the earpieces of my specs are pretty thick towards the lens end, consequently this expands the rubber rings and ensures a firm grip.I suspect that they'd be useless with spectacles with very thin sidepieces, like many metal-framed ones, as the rubber rings are approx. 6 or 7mm in diameter. So, if your specs sidepieces are less than 7 mm at the ear end they're going to fall off. (The rings, not your specs). QED.However, I ingeniously came up with a cunning plan if they do fall off........You could always superglue them onto your specs. Or simply cut off the spectacle connector bits & Bingo! You've got a pair of emergency shoelaces, rather than throwing them away.Sorry, that's two cunning plans.

Ineffective product and review message
These are useless. The hoop and metal retainer to hold your glass legs in place is totally ineffective. The metal retainer falls off. I am surprised that over 700 reviews were positive. I cannot believe this, and it has undermined my reliance on substantial positive reviews for products sold in Amazon that can only be reviewed by actual purchasers. Opticians must be doing a roaring trade at the expense of lost glasses from using this product.

you gotta love it
UPDATEnot often I'm compelled to add to a review but this one deserves it. I'm now on my 3rd order and each one has been no hassle and as good as the first one.The price is keen and they have a simple job to do and do it simply.Word of mouth seems to be still effective because friends have wither asked me for the details or to get one for their friends/family or themselves.I can only highly recommend this company and these cords.Below is the original review.Basic but brill.you fit them on they work. They haven't got to have the strength of steel hawser. just enough to hold a few ounces of specs.I don't know how long the attachment fitting will last but looks good for a while. And at the price AND the fact you get two you can afford to replace much more frequently than the actual specs.Only one colour- not a problem - it goes with everything.delivered quickly.Very happy.ACID TEST: Would I buy again - YES

Utter crap.!
The rubber material is too slippery to grip onto the glasses.. So they will slip off the lanyard under their own weight, even if you double up each loop.complete and utter crap..and total failure at the very basic level of their purpose..Oh and poorly packaged in a cheap envelope that is about as tough as toilet paper.. It arrived in pieces.

Both lanyards broke the day i used them.
On a positive side, they sent me two fabric glasses cases with the lanyards inside. Now this is good because I buy the cheap glasses from poundland because I only need them for reading the newspaper etc. (a 2.5 works fine). However I keep losing them, and have used lanyards around my neck. Unfortunately the little metal bits at the end of these both just pulled off as I tightened them onto the ends of my glasses. At first I thought I was just unlucky when the first one broke off, but the second one did exactly the same. I managed to thread the end through the hoop again, and tie a knot. This lasted for a couple of days, but my recommendation is to get a robust lanyard, and ths unfortunately did not work out for me.

Rubbisk
As I un-pact my delivery 1 locking clip fell off the item. Using the second item both sides failed to grip the glasses.Trying to sort the problem, and grip the glasses I applied a little more pressure. The plastic bit, under the clip, failed. All of this happened within 5 mins of opening my delivery. I am aged 75. I have arthritis in both hands. I am not going to repair new items!!! I have been refused a refund by Amazon (do they deserve the capital A). RUBBISH!! Waste of money!! My recommendation "DO NOT BUY!!! DO NOT BUY"

Good, but not very robust
Very good value, but you get what you pay for, in that one clasp has already come apart. Now that we know that this is the answer to my husband misplaying his glasses all the time, he will probably pay a bit more and get a better quality set, so these have proved their value in that way
