I was recommended to get thick Stockholm tar by a friend. Our mare had a puncture in her frog from a sharp flint. After poulticing to make sure there was no abscess or nasty gunk coming out I wanted her to continue to go out in paddock but it was muddy. I didn’t want to be diggin* around with a hoof pick as she had been sore so I plugged the crevice with cotton wool and Stockholm tar to seal it from dirt. When I brought her in and picked out her very muddy feet it popped out leaving a clean crevice. Beautifully protected until all grown back. 😃

Sorry to leave 3 star can I make it clear that there is nothing wrong with this for hooves but it is NOT 100% pine tar and therefore NOT suitable for soap/cosmetics WARNING it can be dangerous if used on humans. Look for 100% thick pine tar.

Nonostante la viscosità ( tutti i prodotti di questo genere lo sono) si applica facilmente su tutto lo zoccolo e, a differenza di altri tipi usati precedentemente, sporca un po' meno ed è facilmente pulibile. Non solo protegge ma ho avuto la sensazione che idrati anche l'unghia. Prezzo altino, ma consiglio vivamente!

I used this as a 50/50 mis with BLO. I heat the mixture up and wipe it in and let it soak in. The finish is deep and rich. This product is more highly refined than Pine Tar a d much easier to work with
