Needed sewing in place
Found that the glue didn't actually hold very well for long after being ironed on, so ended up sewing the patches onto my jeans. So far so good (after two months and three washes). The patch edges tend to fray as not finished, but not a problem for me as these are very comfortable working jeans.

Worked perfectly
Used this to repair a hoodie that save the holes in the elbow still looked good. It's been through the wash a few times since I applied them and patches are holding firm.

Patching up
My husband wears out the sleeves of sweaters at the elbows. He reads, leans on his right elbow when using the computer. The remainder of the sweater is fine, so a patch on the elbow extends the life of some quite expensive sweaters. Having been born before the second world war I don't throw anything away. Patches on the elbow are a perfectly acceptable solution. I thought that leather patches would be a lot more expensive so I tried the fabric variety. They have been easy to sew on, although a bit stiff - I am hoping that once they have been washed a few times they will soften up.
