Q: Have you fixed the automatic disconnection issue in the firewsre yet?

No but I not have much of an issue with disconnections. That is when my cats are not playing with cable.

Q: I need to plug in 3-4 usb3 portable hdd's, along with memory sticks etc. has anyone experienced any issues doing this?

There are enough sockets so it should work, I've only got one USB3 device so I can only talk about USB2 drives but they've all worked fine. And as a charger it is very quick to boost my phone so I'm guessing there is plenty juice to supply 4 portable drives.
