OXO Good Grips Jar Opener

had one of these for years and it is the best jar opener I have tried so bought this one for my Mum who has a selection of jar openers in her kitchen drawer, none of them work for her though. Yes, you need to push hard against the jar lid to ensure it is tightly located within the V shaped bit, but once this is done, the turn with the handle is fairly easy.

The item description as 'Good Grips' is a complete misnomer. It doesn't grip, it skids. It will open some jars if extreme pressure is exerted, not easy with ageing hands, but it won't open bottle tops at all. Why on earth the previous OXO design was altered mystifies me. I bought this as a replacement as the old one was starting to come apart. Fortunately I hadn't thrown it away and with superglue and woodworking clamps my husband repaired it. Everything opens easily with it and It could last for years yet.

Not the best, but usable. Does not grip a jar lid very well. Can damage lids if your not careful.

Bigger than expected and causes me issues with the cutlery drawer/storage. Paradoxically, it is limited in the size of jar I can open, wish I had bought the pliers type now

Having watched YouTube tests on dozens of jar openers this design was close to the top of the list, so I bought one.I got an Amazon Warehouse deal so the cost wasn’t too great but my partner and I have found it very difficult to use.The sharp teeth, that are supposed to grip into the metal of the jar’s lid, skidded round removing the paint and raising sharp areas of metal, but not gripping enough to turn it. It is also difficult to hold the device flat on the lid, whilst at the same time pushing it forward to engage the teeth, forcing it anticlockwise to open the top and gripping the jar with your other hand.It now joins a total of five jar openers that one way or another fail to work for us. The search goes on.UPDATERecently I bought an electric jar opener on Amazon and, so far, it works a treat. I have added a photo to this review showing some of the jar openers I have tried during my search to discover one that works. All those in the picture do work to a greater or lesser extent - the new electric one is at the top of the frame.

Perfect for someone like me who has a poor grip or someone like my mother who is arthritic. Slide the thick end over any jar or bottle then just lever it to one side and off comes the top. Easy to clean and mine has lasted three years thus far and I have just bought the identical item for my arthritic mother..... and she loves it!

The Oxo is such a great brand I have many many Oxo products that I use daily and thy do infact make it so easy to facilitate my life on the kitchen!Unfortunately this can opener is not up to Oxo usual top not standard, this can opener is dangerous it causes the jarlid to splinter and them cut the hand that closes the jar, metal splinters are so fine when one has poor skin, it’s actually hidden metal splinters that are impossible to remove from under the chapped skin A lot of pressure is needed to be applied to open the can,The opener has a serrated edge that cuts and is like a bread knife, I have no idea in why Oxo chose to ok such a style, ??The jar cuts and strips out the metal as it works on the grip to Sucre the jar, than a lot of effort is needed to turn the jar, n still it’s just tears away at the metal leaving the jar lid tightly shut closed, and full of metal splinters to opened, so the tea cloth, hot water , bang on the counter method is still needed , leaving the oxo jar opener to be sent back for a full refund.

ステンレス歯でガッチリ蓋を捉えるので、空回りせずに蓋を開ける事が出来ました。気をつける事は、ステンレス葉は鋸刃なので、扱いを間違えると、手を切ることもあり得ます。開ける瞬間どうしても力を入れるので、しっかり蓋を歯で捉える必要があります。歯に方向があって、閉める事には滑って、使えません。以前樹脂製の安い物を使用しましたが、蓋を捉えるのが甘くて、滑ってしまって、なかなか開ける事が出来ませんでした。そして、樹脂製の為、蓋との接触部が削れてきて、結局捨てました。その経験から頑丈そうな本品を選びました。期待に応えて、性能を発揮しています。
