Nemesis: 1-4

"..GREAT RETRO 90'S SCI-FI.."
If your a big sci-fi fan its certainly worth picking up this classic set of retro movies, you get all 4 Nemesis movies on 4-Discs, you don't get any features unlike the superior German 7-Disc version, but if your just interested in the movies this is good enough, all the movies look good in HD the picture quality is very crisp most of the time, the soundtracks are all good too, These movies have great old-school retro practical effects and some cheesy computer generated effects, the casting is pretty good most of the time, the original being the best of course with the cool Tim Thomerson and Oliver Gruner, Nemesis 2 went a different route set many years into the future, it has a time travel story and stars Sue Price a female body builder in real life making her a huge actress, she goes on to be the star of Nemesis 3, part 3 starts to slide down hill a bit and feels like a drawn out ending to part 2 and pretty much goes nowhere, Nemesis 4 is the worst of the sequels and goes in another direction completely, set roughly in one area with minimal cast, but unlike the others there is much nudity from Sue Price, things were getting desperate for director Albert Pyun by this point I think, Pyun directed all the nemesis movies plus all time classics like The Sword and the Sorcerer 1982, and cyborg 1989. These are cheap cheesy retro Sci-Fi's but if that's what you like then certainly pick up this set anyway, its cheaper than trying to get the German set.NEMESIS 1992In the future, chaos is rampant as 'information terrorists' threaten to destroy order in society. Alex is a part-man-part-machine LAPD cop who is the best at what he does. When one of the terrorists calls him a machine, Alex questions his humanity and decides to leave the force. His final assignment is to apprehend an old colleague who has stolen some data. However, there is more than meets the eye and Alex must question his allegiance.NEMESIS 2: NEBULA 1995It has been 73 years since Alex failed and the Humans lost the Cyborg Wars. Since then, the Humans have been enslaved. Scientists have developed a new DNA strain, which could signal the end of the Cyborgs, and they inject it into a volunteer. When the Cyborgs learn of the woman and the baby they list both for termination. To escape, she takes a stolen Cyborg ship and transports back in time to East Africa in 1980, where the mother is killed, but the baby is saved. It takes 20 years, but the Cyborg bounty hunter Nebula finally locates the girl, named Alex, and travels back in time to terminate her.NEMESIS 3: TIME LAPSE 1996Using footage left over from Nemesis 2 and a very thin story line sees Alex again fighting the cyborg mercenaries in 1998 East Africa. This time, Alex finds that she has 20 half sisters who are waiting for her to return to 2077. Central Command wants Alex captured alive and scanned to see if her DNA is a strong and more powerful strain than the normal. But Alex may be too tough for Farnsworth to capture.NEMESIS 4 1996Alex shoots again. She has to kill a man, but shoots the wrong one. A high ransom is set on her, so she is visited by some head hunters. Well, she only could sit and wait and hope for a friend's help. All 4 movies look good in HD 1080pRegion B only, No Features, total running time 352-mins (approx. 90-min each) 1992, 1995, 1996.

Superb!
I already had the set on DVD, but aiming to upgrade my dvd's overtime. In this case Nemesis 1-4. Personally, I like all four films, but the first will always be my favourite. Having watched it yesterday the quality is very very crisp, much better than the dvd version. There is also some extended scenes, additional sounds and vocals not present in the dvd version. For example instead of Jarrett giving the voice over, it's now Alex. If you have seen the dvd version and enjoyed it, I highly recommened this version, the difference is superb. The film itself is a great Cyberpunk style film with a few famous actors inc Brion James and Thomas Jane.

What?
I seem to have been rather unlucky with my choice of films of late. The feedback on this series of 4 films was quite positive and so I bumbled in. If a film does not get me within 20 minutes then I know I am not going to enjoy it. So was the case here. First of all I had no idea of what the plot was, who were the humans, who the cyborgs and what the devil was going on. Then I noticed just how wooden all the actor's were, it was more like Bill & Ben - Oooooo - Flobbalop. However, I think I understand why it attained "Cult" status; it's just that the cult will have to do without me. I may try the other 3 films but not tonight Josephine.

101 Films Blu-Ray Edition
Albet Pyun's Nemesis series debuts on U.K Blu-Ray from 101 films. The first film is hands down the best of the bunch with a decent budget and cast,a good sci-fi actioner. The series switches down a couple of gears with the sequel but limited budget aside it's the casting of bodybuilder Sue Price which holds the film together. The third film is quite weak relying on flashbacks of the previous one entirely too much even Tim Thomerson and Sue Price can't rescue it here. The fourth and final film changes the setting opting for an empty city with Price acting as a Hit-woman.This one is less ambitious in the action stakes but is more surprising for the near constant nudity from Sue Price, considering her earlier two films were pretty chaste(only a brief rear shot) this one could be at home on a playboy channel(for women built like a brick sh#thouse) The image quality is quite good on all titles save for a few video effects shots now and again, far far better than the dvds i had of the first two. There is no extra material unfortunately,a commentary with Pyun ported from the expensive german Blu-Ray would have been nice but it's just the films only.Worth the money at around £15- £20.

The films are not brilliant I really only bought it for the first nemesis ...
Four films made for BluRay.The films are not brilliant I really only bought it for the first nemesis film which lets be fair all four are very low budget but the first film is rather good if your just in the mood for Cyberpunk action. The second film is terrible set in the desert and focuses on a genetically advanced human to fight cyborgs yet is thrust back I. Time to the 80s the girl cannot act and the action is low and the dialogue almost non existent. The third film takes place straight after and again in the desert and poorly done. The fourth is the worst as she's in her own time again but has made peace with cyborgs and works for them as a hitman. Slow going bad acting and terrible story.
