Really great buy
The game is a great experience overall. The only complaint I could have is with the navigation between menus, as it has lots of "loading" and "please wait" moments. Plus, the fact that you must check tuning before starting any song or challenge can be a bit tiring as well. For experienced players, the game's progression might be a bit slow; you always start a song at the lowest possible difficulty and even if you nail it every time, you need to play it a good bunch of times before unlocking the highest difficulty. Fortunately, there is a "Riff repeater" mode that allows you to boost up the difficulty level for the song quickly. You also might be confused with the way strings are shown by default, as you'll see the 6th string on top, the opposite of what you are used to in tabs. You can change this setting as well, so it isn't a problem at all.You also must be careful with audio lag, especially with modern HD TV's. The best result is achieved using an adapter to get the analogical sound out of the Xbox into a pair of headphones; this results in zero lag. If you still use the TV's speakers, you'd hear your guitar's sound with quite a bit of lag. It doesn't make playing impossible, but it's quite unpleasant for the musically trained ear, so go for the headphones (or a Hi-Fi if you have it) always.I was pleasantly surprised by the mini-games, they focus on specific techniques like chords, scales, bends, slides or harmonics and they are a fun way to practice and hone your skills.Overall, the game is fun, entertaining and it has a great selection of music, mostly modern with a good bunch of classics, and lots of bluesy music, which I loved. So, totally worth your money.

Great game
I love this game. It is worth every penny if you are a real guitarist and dont enjoy seeing people bashing plastic guitars thinking they can play. ;)It took me a long time to get used to the way the onscreen tab works and if you are used to real tab, you have to switch the settings so that the top string is where youd expect it to be. Otherwise, its like playing in the mirror. There is a great choice of songs and I didnt wait long to download more. When you think that for each song you get the original tune, the tab and getting your playing graded through the game, it makes buying tab books seem so out dated. If only they would keep adding tons more songs! I guess there should be Rocksmith 2 for that though. One negative point about the game is that the game automatically levels up to match your ability but I found not having enough correct notes onscreen for songs I knew became a little offputting. One other point is that the cable costs 20 quid on its own but the bundle is 30. Perhaps it is to make sure that people buy the game more. But seeing as you could do duets or play guitar and bass with this, it is not so bad.All in all an essential purchase for anybody who has a game system and likes playing guitar.

If you're a fan of Guitar Hero/Rock Band style games, and have fancied learning a real guitar, you can't go wrong with this. This works the same way as those two games. Coloured blocks come down the screen, and you have to hit the corresponding note. The better you get, the more coloured blocks come down at you. There are many tunes with the game, but you can download others for a couple of quid each. There's a library of over 200, so you'll be able to find some from your favourite bands. The Real Tone cable plugs into the guitar instead of your amp lead, with the other end going into your Xbox. There's even a feature, which lets you tune your guitar before you start.Unfortunately, as my guitar is old, the phono socket is a bit loose, so the cable sometimes falls out. Otherwise, it's safe to say that I'd be able to play a couple of tunes at least by now.

Great game, must buy.
Was playing guitar on and off...occasionally taking it out and attempting to learn a song or two then putting it back after 30 mins. Sound familiar?Heard about Rocksmith, and being pee'd off that it had been out in the US for almost a year! Finally arrived here so I decided to buy it.Gameplay is amazing, within minutes you're learning tunes and chords. You get a great sense of achievement from playing, as you play the game matches your ability and makes it that little bit harder, it's constantly pushing your abilities and bettering your playing.I've had it for the best part of 2 days, it's great to come in from work and play a few great tunes. My only complaint is the chords, sometimes some songs may throw in chords that you haven't learned...but personally that's my fault as each stage in your career there are technique videos and chord mini games you can play.Honestly, if you want to learn to play guitar and have fun at the same time, get it, and enjoy the sore fingers!!

Wow, so impressed!
A fantastic way to practice! Got myself some surround sound Turtle Beach headphones and set it all up, sounds great. Living in a built up area without being able to practice for hours on an actual amp this is a godsend. My only complaints are: that quite often the songs are TOO dumbed down with the notes given being a bit odd and not sounding right. This could be due to lag but I've no trouble when playing full songs. Also every now and then if you don't play the note loud enough or you slide into a note or its the second octave it won't pick up the note at all! Also I'm a Fender fanboy - not loving the constant selection of Gibson only preamp models, but my Telecaster's tone still shines through in all it's glassy goodness so I'm not too bothered.Don't let any of that put you off though, it's a workaround and you can make some great sounds, work on your chops and scales and integrate gaming and achievements/trophies into your guitar playing. 2 player is great for a bit of competitive fun, and the mini games put you through your paces.Overall a brilliant idea and game, such a breath of fresh air safter all the button bashing plastic guitar nonsense.
