If you've ever wondered where paper comes from this is the book for you. It traces the history of writing materials from the stone tablets through Egyptian papyrus to paper invented by the Chinese from discarded cloth. The Chinese were the most advanced civilization on the planet inventing paper in the 7th century through trades routes it traveled through Korea to japan. Paper didn't Europe until the 13th century this book traces it's history in exhaustive details. This understandingly is considered the best book ever written on the subject. It goes into detail how the paper is created from rags is then broken down into individual fibres and then reformed into paper highly recommended.

Primary work on Papermaking
I was delighted to find this substantial book, which is the classic work on the history and technique of Papermaking. By Dard Hunter, it was first published in 1943. Very detailed and great addition to my reference collection
