A Very Thorough and Well-organized Workbook
I took some Spanish courses years ago and needed to increase my vocabulary and refresh myself on certain rules and verb conjugations. I'm about halfway through the book, and so far I feel like I've made a lot of progress. There are even some concepts in this book that weren't covered (or covered so well) in the courses that I took years ago. I'll be going on a trip to a Spanish-speaking country soon, and so I'm using this book (and the other one that focuses on verbs) to help me brush up and improve on what I learned long ago. I think that this book is also good for beginners because it's very well organized and with each chapter the exercises should help you become more confident in your ability to communicate.

EXCELLENT GRAMMAR SERIES!
As a Spanish teacher for 14 years, I LOVE this series of books. They are better, in most cases, than any of the official text books we have to use. I tell my students to buy them as a support for learning all aspects of Spanish grammar and they love them. The biggest reason for their popularity is the no frills, clear, concise explanations given for every item they are teaching. They also have good practice pages and easy to find answers in the back to correct one's work. The cost is much better than what students pay for overpriced text books! I often wanted to get my school to replace the text books with all of the books in this series. They are still less expensive than one text book of lesser quality!

Lots of vocabulary words...
...hard to memorize them all. I think the book does a good job of trying to incorporate all of the vocabulary in one chapter into all of that chapters lessons. Still, it's a lot of vocabulary to learn. I'm still on chapter one, and I've had the book for a month or two. I think it is a good compliment to other Spanish books that you may be using. As a stand-alone tool, I think it might be overwhelming for some.

Wonderful and nice app for practice
All of Dorothy Richmond books are excellent. They take a student from the beginning of their study forward. I usually complete my lessons in a notebook and do not write in the book. This works well for me. I wouldn't start with these books if you are a raw beginner. Instead begin with Linney & Orta's Getting Started in Spanish. Then go to Basic Spanish by Richmond. After that a verb book and then this one. I also like Pimsleur Approach discs for fluecy and pronunciation practice.

good book but hard to do on a Kindle
There's a ton of Spanish vocabulary here, but when compared to the non-kindle version, the regular book is much better in terms of ease of use.

Great book, interesting stories however after several weeks:
I just bought this book a few days ago, this is something that you don't just read through quickly. What I have seen so far I like. Vocabulary arranged by subject, interesting stories to practice on. wish i could reduce the stars after struggling with this book for several weeks now. vocabulary lists are in tiny print which does not enlarge like the rest of the book. very hard on my eyes, gave up on trying to read it.

This is an excellent book
I really like this book very much. It is so much easier to understand than the very expensive one I bought when I attended the university. It simplifies things and really helps in learning. I also recommend that Practice Makes Perfect, Spanish Verb Tenses. second edition (green book) to go with this red one. These are inexpensive yet very helpful books. Why make things hard for yourself?

A WONDERFUL SUPPLEMENT!
I really like these Practice Makes Perfect series workbooks. I especially like Dorothy Richmond's volumes! I have been teaching Spanish for 29 years at the high school level and these books nicely augment the textbook. They are excellent tools for tutoring and home school as well! I highly recommend these workbooks to any educator or learner of Spanish!
