Great for video editing
Some time ago I purchased a Bluetooth headset for use in virtual meetings and in making and editing videos. The set, which had one earphone and a microphone boom, worked great. However, I found that due to my poor hearing—and maybe my psychological makeup—being able to focus and to listen critically while editing was still difficult. So I decided to try a set that had speaker muffs covering both ears. I bought the Soothielec Noise canceling Bluetooth Headset Model KH53, and that has made a huge difference. The headset is quite comfortable and its speakers are stereo. The sound, to my damaged ears, seems excellent. I can focus on the sound from my video, and I can trust the AI noise cancelling to take care of unwanted background. The KH53 comes with a dongle that allows almost instant plug and play with the computer. Charge the phone for two hours, plug in the USB dongle, which turns on automatically, turn the power switch on the headphone to “on” and hold the headphone near the dongle. It pairs automatically in about 5 to 10 seconds. It is not necessary to download or install any driver. Set the KH53 as the output device on your computer’s sound system and you are in business. The instructions that came with the headset say the charge will last during use for 30 to 35 hours. The headset can be paired with two devices, say a computer and a phone or two phones. I pair it with my cell phone and my captioning land line phone when I am not editing video. This way, if I have to make notes, I don’t have to fumble with the handset or put the conversation on speaker. The headset remembers Bluetooth pairings, but is limited to two, so one must remember to clear pairings when switching from computer and phone to say, two phones. The headset also has a 3.5mm jack in the bottom of the right earphone if one just wants to listen to music by plugging into a laptop or some other music playing device. Controls are mounted on the left earphone. The power switch is reached intuitively and volume control a bit above it. The volume control has a shallow valley in the middle to make finding increase (upper part of button) and decrease (lower part) easy. Between the two buttons is an LED that lets you know if the headset is on, off or charging. The Mic boom swivels so the set can be worn with the mic on the right as well as left if so desired and correct stereo orientation isn’t necessary. The mic boom has a mute button on the outside at the end and is an easy intuitive reach whether the headset is worn left or right. The large multifunction button, located in the outside center of the left earphone will play/pause music, redial a call, answer a call, hang up, or reject a call. The headset comes with a charging base, but also has a USB-C charging port in bottom of the left earphone. The unit comes with a short USB A to C cord. I plan to move my one-eared headset to my old pickup to use with my cell phone so that I can answer calls while driving and hear directions more clearly when navigating. The KH53 has become standard equipment at my computer desk.

Microphone is awkward to set up and use
Good quality in general. But despite following all the trouble shooting tips, and trying 3 different windows laptops and 1 Chromebook, the microphone only works when it wants to.Very disappointing as I wanted to use this as my primary headset.Do not recommend.

Great Headset for Work
I wanted to really test this headset thoroughly before I wrote this review. I have used it for 3 weeks in my work-at-home call center job. I truly like just about everything, so far.Sound quality: The sound quality is really good, both the speakers and the mic. Folks say I sound really crystal clear. And, I can hear really well. Music sounds exceptionally good when I have tried using with my cell phone--really better than expected. In part, likely due to the Bluetooth 5.0. I could see using these just to listen to music. The bass is clear and good. I'm listening while writing this and honestly the audio fidelity is impressive.Battery life: The battery life is very good. I can easily work 40 hrs before recharging--turning the unit off at the end of my shift--using 8+ hrs per day. I am very pleased with the battery life. The charging stand is very easy to use and is nice looking and has a relatively small footprint. The headset lines up with the charging connections flawlessly. You can also charge without the charging stand, but I'm not sure why--unless you are using it on the road and don't want to take the charging stance with you. So, if you plan to use this traveling, this would be a bonus feature.Audio prompts: I especially like the audio prompts: "Your headset is connected", "pairing", "powering on", "powering off", "low battery", "Your headset is disconnected". These are perfect--love this feature.Comfort: The headset is more comfortable than you might expect. I don't have any complaints regarding comfort--I use 8 hrs a day and they are comfortable as can be expected.Range: This is where perhaps it could be a little bit better. It is great everywhere in the same room or the room across the hall. Beyond that, it can become disconnected when connected to my cell phone (so this might be a limitations of my cell phone). However, I haven't really tested this rigorously while connected to my work computer using the supplied dongle (since I would have to be on a business call to test and would never risk a disconnection, by testing this), but while listening to music on my cell phone it is limited to across the hall. The dongle that comes with it might provide greater range, but like I said I haven't tested the range this way. If I do test it this way, I will update this review.Pairing: The unit pairs automatically and quickly--no problem there. And, you are confident it is connected because it tells you "Pairing", "Your headset is connected". The unit stays paired throughout my 8 hr shift--I've never had it disconnect randomly. It stays connected reliably.Mute: The one thing I don't care for is the placement of the mute button: on the end of the mic boom. So, you have to grab the mic boom in order to use the mute. And this is something the other person might hear--mic handling noise. However, I'm not sure where a good place should be for the mute button. This is a very minor complaint. I don't need to mute very often. If you use mute a lot, this might be a problem for you.Noise cancellation: I don't work in a noisy environment, so I cannot rate the headset in this regard. You'll have to look at other reviews on this feature performs. Considering how it excels in every other respect, I would expect it do well in this regard. If I do test it this way, I will update this review.Using cell phone options: I haven't been using it in this way, so I cannot speak to using buttons for making/answering calls. You'll have to look at other reviews on this feature performs. Considering how it excels in every other respect, I would expect it to handle cell phone calling/answering well, since it does everything else very well. If I do test it this way, I will update this review. Conclusion: I love this headset! I am really glad I bought it and it is worth what I paid for it. Highly recommend. Great for call center work. The sound quality is exceptional. I can't imagine finding something that works better--especially for the price.

Worth every penny!
The Soothielec KH53 is an amazing Bluetooth headset. It is packed with features, it has high audio quality that is suitable for conference call, listening to music, or playing video games, and it has a stylistic premium look and feel that is particularly nice for office use. Given all that it is offers, this headset is not only worth every penny, but it punches above its weight and can compete with headsets twice its price. In the box is the headset, a USB dongle, a charging cable, a 3.5 mm audio cable, a charging stand and the manual. The USB dongle is for connection to laptop/desktop that does not have Bluetooth connection, and it is not necessary if you're using a phone/computer with built-in Bluetooth. The dongle also adds a couple of features like mute button control, which I usually prefer to use the computer's mute button anyways. Similarly, the 3.5 mm audio cable is a nice optional addition when you want to listen to music at its best quality. The charging stand is needed to charge the headset as there is no separate charging port on the headset. Both the headset and the charging stand are made with premium feeling plastic with a very nice matte finish. The headband is cushioned with soft leather of very similar texture and color with the plastic, lending it to a seamless look. Despite being plastic, the headset feels sturdy and there is a very satisfactory heft to it. However, it does not feel heavy at in. In fact, wearing the headset is quite comfortable. I have been using it for 4-5 hours a day without any discomfort to my head. The same is true for the ear-cups, it has a soft premium feel and does not hurt my ears. The charging stand follows the same construction philosophy: plastic with a nice matte finish, hefty but not heavy. The overall look of the headset is sleek and premium without being too flashy. It is perfect for office use. It is somewhat unassuming but it is unmistakably a very nice headset. That leads to its audio quality. I have been using it to listen to hours of music, for hours of video game play including audio chat, and hours of conference call in the office. The headset is clearly tuned for voice clarity, so there is no punchy bass, but music is still crisp and balance. It sounds as good as any Bose or JBL headset at twice the price. Audio chat and conference call sounds perfect not only to my but to the other end as well thanks to the additional noise cancelling microphones.I particularly like the button design of the headset. The volume +/- buttons are easy to find and easy to press, unlike many other headset which put them at a weird place or make them hard to distinguish and press. Similar story for the on/off switch. The multi-function button is integrated to the large decorative button circle on the left side, which is another excellent design point, as it not only hides the button, but makes the most used button most accessible. The Bluetooth feature set is a quite standard for Bluetooth 5.1, but there are two things I want to point out. It supports AptX HD, which offers excellent audio quality, fast connection and minimal latency. Basically means excellent music and audio calls for a Bluetooth headset. Secondly, it supports simultaneous connection to two devices. You can connect it to both your work computer and your phone at the same time, which allows you to take phone call, conference call, or listening to music without changing headphone and disconnecting/reconnecting to the headset at all. That is a really nice creature comfort for office work or work-from-home.Finally, it got about 45 hours of working time at about half volume out of the battery, which takes only 2 hours to fully charge. This means a full work week for a half morning of charge time. This is literally perfect for work. Kudos to the manufacturer for balancing cost, weights, and battery life.Cons: At this price, for some people, it would be nice to have a carrying bag and longer cables. But honestly, those are nice to have, and I never use the carrying bag or cables anyways. Personally I would prefer a lower price than having accessories that I don’t use.

This is what I was looking for
I have been using these headphones for three weeks now. They have met all of my needs. I was looking for a headset to use for work, mostly Teams meetings a few hours a day. I wanted something I could easily turn off and on so that when I am not in a meeting I can still hear notification sounds through the laptop speakers. I also wanted something that I didn't have to plug and unplug all the time. I connected them to my laptop using bluetooth. When I turn them on, they pair and are active in 2 to 3 seconds. The sounds is pretty clear although slightly muffled compared to the wired headphones I used to use. This is my first pair of wireless headphones so I don't know how they compare to others that are wireless. In any case the difference is only noticeable when listening to both headsets moments apart. Co-workers can hear me well. I don't normally use the mute button on the microphone since I am used to the mute button in the Teams application, but when I tried it out, I noticed that there is no indication within Windows that I am muted and I don't think there are any LED indicators either, so you just have to rely on the auditory cue when you enable and disable the mute. The auditory cues are a female voice with an English accent, "Power on", "Pairing", "Your headset is connected", "Mute on", "Mute off", "Power off". Twice in these three weeks I did have an issue where the microphone was not working at all. It took a computer reboot to fix it so it may just have been a problem with Windows 10. The headset band size is adjustable but I use it on the smallest setting and it fits just about right. I don't think I have a small head so this might not be a good fit for people with small heads. The ear muffs and head band are nice-feeling cushy material that make it pretty comfortable. The headset is heavier than I expected although that is really most noticeable if I rapidly look around, especially when I quickly look down at my feet, they want to fall off. It seems they could use some sort of back of head support band although that might detract from how nice they look. Since I am looking at my two monitors the whole time I am wearing them I have not had any issues keeping them on my head. I really like the charging stand. The headphones have a USB-C jack that I have never used and right next to that are a couple of metal contact points sitting in the crevice beween the ear muff and the electronics. For the first couple of days I did have trouble setting the headphones onto their charging stand when reaching from an angle around the side of my monitor, but then I got used to it and can easily match the blade of the stand to the crevice of the ear muff. The curve in the stand blade makes the headphone automatically center itself and find the charging contacts. I keep them on the stand whenever I am not wearing them and I think the longest I have ever worn them in one sitting was probably 3 hours. Overall, I am happy with my purchase plan to keep using them.
