Cars and Trucks and Things that Go: Kids will love discovering all kinds of fun vehicles in the illustrated children's book classic

My son loved this book so much we kept reading it every day for a year from between the years of 3 to 4 years old. He used to ask me to read it together with him before bed otherwise he wouldn't sleep. He would take it on holiday with him too. It's so tattered and covered in sellotape now. Now he is 6 he doesn't read it any more but he still pulls it out for a flick every now and again. If you boy loves cars, this is a wonderfully creative book for him.

I bought this book for my then 2 year old son way back in 2015. I didn't leave a review at the time but I feel compelled to now because I spent a good hour of quality time this morning looking through it with my now 7 year old and it's only now that I realise it's importance and value.There isn't much of a story to this book, and what story there is won't win any literary prizes, but on reflection I realise now that this is probably one of our most picked up books. We've spent literally hours over the course of the last 5 years just looking at the pages together, talking about the things that are going on, what the vehicles look like, who is driving them, what they might be used for etc etc and as my son has aged the things we see on each page has changed and so has our conversation about it—at 2 years old we read the story and talked about the silly cars but today I noticed the conversation has moved more towards why? and how? and my son being able to read the passages of text himself. Most of the books he had at 2 he has long since outgrown but not this one. I class this as one of those books we will keep as a memento of my sons early years, the one we spent hours flipping through the pages of peacefully connecting with each other.If you're considering buying it, I would urge you to give it a go. When you get it, don't be put off by the Americanisms, and slightly out of date context. just look through it together, and let the conversation unfold. I promise you will still be doing the same several years later.

My son's ever growing toy collection seems to suggest that he loves anything that goes. He has tons of trains, trucks, cars, planes, fire trucks, boats, you name it and it goes and I am sure that we have it. This book was perfect in that it really explores just about everything that goes and as with other Richard Scarry books, is quite well illustrated with quite a bit of detail all over each page. My son loves turning each page and looking at the detail and provides quite alot of entertainment as we flip through each page and point out all of the "Things that go". This is a great add-on to my son's children's library and one that will be a favorite.

My kids enjoyed these books over 30 years ago and they now delight the grandkids

Our boys loved the Richard Scarry books with their tiny details. Now we are hoping that our grandchildren will fall in love with them too.

If your child happens to shout at every passing vehicle, maybe this would be a good buy. It has helped my son to recognise different transports and automobile on the road when we travel. The colours are vibrant and the story is quite animated. This is a book together with another that my son keeps going back to. Quality is good too. We have it for more than 1 year and it has not fallen apart!

I just love this book and all it’s humour. I bought it originally for my children and now for my grandson. All of them adore this book. After all these years the illustrations are as funny and interesting as when I best read it to my children

Great illustrations and a humorous story line, lots going on so you notice something extra every time you read.

My 3.5 yr old son loved this from the moment I opened the book in front of him... Served its purpose completely! Would recommend for all the little ones who love vehicles

I accidentally bought paperback instead of hardcover and the refund process could not have been better. I immediately bought the hardcover version. My children loved this book and now I am going to introduce the grandchildren to Richard Scarry. Fun!

My son is 3 year, 3 weeks old, and since some of his books were already kind of easy for him, I looked up for good books for three year old boys. I found this in the recommendation and I immediately went bananas. It turns out I had this book when I was a kid and I remembered it fondly but my parents didn't and I had never been able to find it again. Having so nice memories from this book and having a kid who loves cars, trucks and similar, I naturally bought it.When I received it, I decided to read it before my boy so I would know all the twist and turns and tricks beforehand. I must confess I felt overwhelmed. It has too many pages and too many drawings comparing to what we had been reading and I totally thought it would be too much for my kid. It turns out he does not only reads it all, he reads it three times on a row, he gets all the sub plots and finds the golden bug every time (it's very small). We have been reading it daily for the last two weeks and he just doesn't get tired of it, he discovers new things every time and when we go outside he's always contrasting what he sees with the book.
