You will need 2.There was nothing required to make it work or pair. It is already operating on the proper iR frequency. Simply press the buttons and it works. It automatically connects with no input required. This is a great option to replace a lost remote instead of going to the dealer and paying a much higher price.The remote is a direct replacement and fits in the storage slot in the screen frame and nicely secures with the factory tabs.

Easy. Just put in batteries and it works. Be sure to be in front of the screen to use it. You can’t be in the passenger or driver seat and using the remote since it is infrared. I have 2018 Escalade (suburban type).
