The Baron fountain pen has a simple, elegant look and a slim, comfortable profile. It features a black center band accent, along with a black accented finial. The Baron is comfortable to hold and is well balanced. It is specifically designed as a small mid sized pen, and is a favorite of those with smaller hands. The Baron fountain pen uses bottled ink (ink reservior included) or a standard short cartridge (sold separately), and has a round grip with an iridium nib and chrome plating on the clip, finial, and band fittings. This pen is designed to be used with or without the cap attached (i.e. the cap is postable). The barrel and cap are hand turned from spalted tamarind wood, which is a beautiful wood from Southeast Asia. Spalting is any form of wood coloration caused by fungi. Although primarily found in dead trees, spalting can also occur in living trees under stress. Much of this wood comes from logs that were either found on the forest floor or were cut and then allowed to spalt in damp conditions. The colors and various line patterns are unique from one piece to another.
