Beautiful facsimile
A very well-produced facsimile of the c18 Conver TdM deck in the French National Library, on which the more familiar 'Ancien Tarot' version by Grimaud (who also publish this) was based. It shows all the irregularities associated with the traditional production processes. The card stock is good, and the corners are rounded.I find actual cards somehow more 'real', more stimulating to the imagination, than internet images or photographs in books. It is interesting how the later Grimaud version, while a faithful redrawing, to some extent changes the original images - e.g., by thickening lines; the original facial expressions are to my eye more subtle, and colours and details have been altered - for example, in the two of cups, the French royal arms at the bottom of the two of cups have been deleted in the later version, and in 'le Diable', the genitals are less visible, while the curious object in the figure's left hand can clearly be seen in the original to be a lighted torch - (perhaps suggesting Lucifer?).The interpretations in the accompanying booklet seem to me wildly eccentric (though sometimes entertaining) and do not correspond to anything I have seen elsewhere, so I would recommend anyone buying this as a first TdM to get a separate book if they want to use it.

Beautiful deck.
Now published by grimaud and not heron apparently. Nice waxy cardstock and a lovely size for shuffling. Please don't riffle its so disrespectful! I love the backs! Plenty of room in box so cards slide out easily. The LWB is insane! It's a very nice deck but a bit expensive now for what it is.

Excellent
These cards are absolutely superb. Reasonably priced, made in France and are a perfect reproduction of an original Marseilles style deck. I bought these as a companion to Valentin Tombin's "Meditations on the Tarot" (which I also highly recommend) and the images are a perfect complement. The instruction leaflet included is in Engish as well as French.
