A Spectacular Campanion for the Camino
I have been researching the Camino for a writing project I am engaged in, so have checked out a number of different guidebooks and Internet resources, but nothing has compared to Hiking the Camino de Santiago by this hiking and writing team. Every stage of the Camino is covered, including each minor town between the stages, and helpful and INTERESTING information is shared on every page - historical information, practical information, local information, as well as anecdotes about all the many Camino-related legends. The book also has a lovely layout, with scores of graphs and maps and sidebars; facts about elevations and temperatures and road/trail types; language tips; albergue (hostel) tips, and on and on. It also shares information about how to prepare to hike the Camino, so you'll be ready to hit and enjoy the trail when you get there.Importantly the book also treats the faith-related aspects of the Camino with respect and nuance. The writing is warm and engaging. You'll enjoy walking the Camino with this husband-and-wife team who possess a treasure trove of hiking experience, not only on the Camino but on other trails throughout the world.A truly spectacular book!

If you are planning to do the Camino, this is THE BOOK for you!
I’ve done the Camino twice (the Rua da Plata and the French way), and both times I found these books to be invaluable. My most recent trip was on the French way this summer (2022) and this book was incredibly helpful in planning my route. You won’t get the snippets of culture and history any other way (and this book is full of them), and this is by far the easiest way to see an aggregate of all the hostels etc in each town you pass. I will note: sometime around when this book was published, Spain began revamping some parts of the Camino Frances, so there are some spots where the Camino branches into two paths (one labeled “complementario”); the book doesn’t refer to these splits, and it can be a little confusing to tell which path it wants you to take. Luckily, the paths always merge back into one, but hopefully the publishers will update the book again soon to include these revamped sections.

Comprehensive, thorough information.
This is a great book for planning the walk across Spain. I'd much prefer to read a book than an App. Minus 1 star because it's so heavy.

I really like Dintaman's guide book
I really like Dintaman's guide book, starting with the simplified at-a-glance map inside the front cover. It's the best nutshell layout I've seen, as its simpler than in other books. Then on the 1st page of each daily journey, is another excellent at-a-glance visual. It shows not only elevations, km, towns/villages as the other guidebooks do, but also lists at each town name if it has albergues (hostels), hotels, food, market, water, or picnic area. I find this very valuable, to not have to flip thru pages to see where the next hostel or water might be. Then throughout the pages of each days journey, each town/village with amenities is box-outlined, listing each accommodation with size, prices, ph num, w/d, WiFi, etc. Excellent info. This guide book appears to be updated on a very regular basis. The full-page daily map is the only thing I prefer from a different popular guide book. I'll carry both. They are each 9 oz.

This is the one to get
I had another guide for the Camino this year and didn’t use it. Ordered this one to replace it. I’d had this author’s guide in 2018 and it was fabulous. Tried to use it again in 2021 but so much has changed after the pandemic that that was a mistake. From now on, I’ll invest in a new guide each hike. Well worth it!

Excellent resource for the Camino
This guide to the Camino Frances includes walking stages, suggestions for all manners of lodgings throughout the Camino as well as information regarding levels of difficulty and elevation changes. I am using the book as my primary resource for advance planning of my walk. The quality of of the paper used in the printing process is high and there is a liberal use of color photographs throughout. One complaint is that the actual print size of the type is small, however I can understand that the authors wanted to keep the book small for the walkers who will be carrying the book.

You'll Want This With you on the Camino
This guide is a great tool to have as you hike the Camino from St. Jean Pied a Port to Santiago. My three friends and I used it almost ever hour as we moved from point to point. It tells where the path goes, where to stay, the difficulty of the path and so much more. The maps and pictures are terrific.
