Le CreusetSignature Stainless Steel Iridescent Knob, Medium

My vintage La Cruset dutch oven had a Bakalite knob which cracked the last time I baked bread in it. I debated between getting the same knob as replacement but decided to go stainless since I bake at 450degrees.

Much more attractive than the standard knob.

Medium size knob is slightly wider than the original, which crumbled when I took it out of a hot oven (after many repeated uses baking bread at 500 degrees). Measures 1-3/4 inch diameter, original was 1-5/8 inches. The rim is also slightly higher than the original. It fits perfectly on my oval Dutch oven, which is my preferred pot for making sourdough bread. Came with a screw (exactly the same as original.) More expensive than some non-brand stainless steel knobs, but I was concerned about the silicone pad (will it hold up to repeated trips to the hot oven?) and need for additional pieces for installation. I am hoping that the Le Creuset knob will last a long time along with the pot.

I bought this stainless steel knob so that I could use my Le Creuset pan at a very high temperature for making bread. It fits perfectly and was very easy to change from the black one that came with the pan.

It sits high so your knuckles clear the hot lid and the gold looks very nice with the lemongrass. But they failed to mention that, unlike their line of decorative knobs, this one is hollow. It's light weight robs you of leverage and it just feels cheap. This is the first time ever that I have not given 5 stars to an LC product. The dutch oven it's on is 24 years old and going strong. I wonder if the finish on the new knob will last that long.

Before this purchase, I didn't think it would be possible to love my pots more. Took all of a minute to install per pot. In my opinion they look amazing. My sauce pans used medium, and my 6 and 7 qt dutch ovens got large knobs.

Works very well, looks good, but is very overpriced.

Cette poignée est parfaite sur mon couvercle de creuset. L’autre a cassé et j’ai réussi à la remplacer par celle-ci. Pour l’instant, je ne l’ai pas encore mise au four, je ne sais pas comment elle va se comporter, mais je me croise les doigts pour que tout fonctionne bien.

Hopefully this will not crack under the heat!

Invested in this a while ago as a replacement for the original plastic knob that mysteriously broke off after a number of years of hard labour. It feels well made, fits perfectly, and certainly seems to tolerate high oven temperatures. It is very expensive for what is really quite a basic component, but I do expect it to last.
