Large, clear ice cubes made easy
If you are the kind of person that loves the aesthetic of a giant cube of clear ice in your drink then this set will help you achieve just that. Of course, that cube will keep your Negroni cold and melt extremely slowly, avoiding undesirable dilution, but in reality the size of this piece of ice will be your main aim!The mould will allow you to create eight such cubes in one go, although it will take around 48 hours to achieve this. The insulation around the mould and the design of components ensure that the ice comes out perfectly formed and clear although, as others have found, this is best achieved with bottled water which not only helps with the clarity but can also taste better.I found this set easy to use and to keep clean and I haven’t really had any problems with the quality of the ice that comes out. Some other moulds do a similar job a bit quicker but I like the fact that I get eight cubes from this which can then be stored and kept “fresh” in the freezer using the bag which is included. You need a reasonable amount of space in the freezer to use this set up so you may need to evict a large bag of oven chips or a large tub of ice cream! But I think that the outcome is worthwhile even if the price of the kit is not the cheapest. And if you are really keen on those large ice cubes then this is a good way to achieve it.

Amazing. Clear, clear ice.
Not usually one to add reviews to online purchases, but this has really stood out. £35 for ice cubes is of course extravagant, however, if you enjoy a good gin and tonic, or a proper old fashion/negroni, ice that cools your drink without watering it down is a must. Yes, it’s expensive, yes, it takes up a fair amount of freezer space, yes, it takes 30-40 hours to properly freeze (with the freezer set to -19 degree celsius), but the results speak for themselves: outstandingly clear ice. Would 100pct recommend.

Makes Clear Ice
Whilst this takes a little bit of experimentation with how much to fill and how long to freeze for, this product does what it is supposed to and creates 8 large clear ice cubes with minimal fuss. Whilst the instructions said to freeze for at least 48 hours I found my freezer was much quicker (30 hours optimum.) Everything is easier to remove and the ice is clearer if it's removed from the freezer before the bottom well has time to freeze. It does take up quite a lot of room in the freezer but that is just how these products need to be designed to work effectively. All the parts feel solid and look like they will last a long time.Comes with a nice silicon bag to store the clear ice and protect it from contamination from other foods once you've made it.

Impressive.
It’s a lovely gadget. The ice cubes are very impressive and very big! Does it work as advertised? I’m still experimenting. I’m on my third freeze and would reckon a 95% success rate. The first batch didn’t work, having a lot of trapped bubbles in the lower third of each cube. I put this down to filling with chilled water. Possibly a mistake as this may have frozen the bottom before the air could escape. I’ve now tried straight from the tap and tepid. Both these worked a lot better, but I’m still getting a small - maybe 5mm - layer of opaque ice at the bottom of some cubes. I will try luke warm water (strange, I know!) on the next batch. The makers recommend freezing over 48 hours. Mine are well frozen in 24 hours, so perhaps a lower freezer temperature also has a bearing on success? However, I’m not about to turn mine down to find out!Not all the cubes come out perfectly formed. Air - rather than escaping through the small centre hole at the bottom of each cube mould - forms in the bottom corners. This means some cubes come out with a sizeable comer missing. Making sure the unit is placed absolutely horizontal may help, (many freezers tip slightly backwards to help the doors shut and/or the bottom basket rollers close). So a small spirit level may form part of my next session! Ridiculous? Absolutely. For crying out loud, it’s only ice! But clear ice is a complete joy. Pouring a gin and tonic - one with ordinary cloudy ice and one with a gleaming “sink the Titanic” huge crystal clear block bobbing in the bubbles with a sliver of lemon majestically riding the crest? There’s just no comparison. I swear the drink tastes better! On the other hand, what a faff. Will this Ice maker follow the path of a trillion bread makers consigned to dusty cupboards after initial enthusiastic use? Only time will tell, but right now I’m enjoying the ride.

A Clean and Professional Product
This kit has everything that you need to make consistent clear ice in a home freezer. It will require a bit of trial and error on your part to figure out how long to leave it in the freezer for (dependant on your settings) but once you have that sorted then you'll get consistent results. The pros to buying a complete set up (as opposed to a DIY cooler box method) are that this comes with large tabs to help separate the ice cubes from the bottom section. This really helps speed up the process and helps with getting the mould ready for the next batch of cubes. For this convenience you do pay a premium but I think it's well worth it for such a nice looking set up.If I had one slight area for improvement it would be nice if this company designed interchangeable moulds so that you could have ice spears for Collins glasses without having to buy an entirely new set up

Very good.
Very happy with this. I’ve rated it 5* as it does what it says and is sensibly priced compared to others. It takes a few times of usage to work out how much water you should put in (as water expands when it freezes and I use very filtered water to start with. The large clear ice cube melts more slowly in drinks and looks brilliant

Useless - poor design doesn't make cubes
This product is horrendously designed - the holes in the bottom of the tray are too small and the insulation is too thin on the bottom so the holes freeze over and trap air in the "cubes" instead of it being forced down into the tray through top-down directional freezing. Absolutely useless product.
