My gears love it.
OEM 2018 Subaru Outback front & rear differential oil. This is the 2nd time I'm changing it & my gears love their fresh clean bathing oil. If they like it, I do too.

Great stuff
Replaced the 5MT and rear differential oil in an 04 Legacy 35th L with this stuff. At 140K, neither had been replaced. Oopsie. There is a smoother shift with this stuff (compared to 9 YO oil .. duh). The old oils were quite a bit thicker although there wasn't much in the way of metal shavings on the magnetic plugs of either. Bottom bolt on the differential required my feet on an 18" breaker bar to start but switcheroo was uneventful. Next time I will use tin foil to protect the parts of the exhaust system that the 5MT oil spills on when emptying, I get a bit of cooked differential oil smell (not oil level, not leaks, just the smoking from that oil that spilled over the exhaust pipe that I tried to wipe with a shop towel but is hard to remove all that way). A bit of tin foil would be a simple way to prevent this from happening next time.Shipping from Fred was fast and the packaging was excellent.

Excellent product! bottle may be over sized.
Very happy that I chose this tranny oil. My 2002 WRX wagon still shifts like butter. No grinding issues at all. I chose this route instead of a cocktail as this is easier to procure.I dont think this is a con but I do have to mention that I only used 3 bottles to fill my car as it requires 3.8 quarts. Not sure if the bottles are just a little larger than expected, I had some leftover oil in the tranny, or a little of both. In the end I only used 3 bottles while I ordered 4. Guess I will use the extra bottle for the next oil change.

yup, its trans fluid!
So I picked up 5 of these for my 2008 outback XT 2.5 trans and rear diff. It did the job and knowing its the right type oil form subi made the choice pretty easy. Note: if doing the rear diff, you will need a hand pump to fill.

I replaced the Motul/Redline cocktail I had in my 2005 STi with this stuff. It works well, shifts ok, but takes a bit of time to warm up and shift better. It feels "thinner" than the Motul/Redline cocktail when cold, and when hot which doesn't give a lot of confidence in hard shifting. This will work if you're a daily driver kinda guy, or your transmission is rather new and fresh but if you have a used, abused, or want a better performing transmission oil I would suggest mixing Redline shockproof light with Motul 75w/90 or whatever the kids are suggesting on the forums these days.

Enough gear oil to refill the rear differential
Probably well overdue, I drained and refilled the rear differential in my Subaru. Filling it up was the easy part and this gear oil was exactly what I needed.Removing the top bolt was nearly impossible because whoever did this job last way overtightened it.

Liquid gold for your Subaru Manual transmission
It is tough to find this stuff in 1 quart bottles as it typically comes in a huge pail. The fact that the seller has it in bottles, for a great price is reason enough. Benefits wise this particular fluid meets the 75w-90 requirements set by Subaru for most of their 5 speed transmission and it helps keep gear quiet and shifts smooth. A great fluid if you have a "notchy" feeling gearbox.
