The runt pig

We bought this to go along with the All About Reading Level 1 curriculum and it has been great! The stories are funny and engaging enough to keep us interested, and they are truly decodable. This series does not stick in "sight words" or words that don't follow rules or patterns that we haven't learned yet, so my son didn't get frustrated with this like he did with the leveled readers his school uses. The pictures are funny and accompany the stories well, but (unlike the school's leveled readers) my son still needs to read the words to get the story. It does not teach the poor reading strategy of looking at a picture to guess the text. Yay for All About Reading and these books! Thank you for taking my son from frustrated and discouraged to becoming a reader!

Great for beginning readers!

Great book but please do not buy it at this price.... especially used. You can buy it new on the All About Reading Website for just $22. Besides that it is a LEVEL ONE READER!!! Who pays $70 for a book full of 3 letter words.
