Hi, HP (High pressure) uses Gas Cartridges which screw into the base, LP (Low Pressure) uses gas bottles and cartridges with a regulator. I prefer LP as it offers more options, the advantage with HP it is more portable but at a cost with the gas. Depends on the number of BBQ's. BTW the New Safari Chef 2 is excellent like the original however it offers much better control of the flame which was an issue with the original.

There are two versions of Safari chef 2. LP requires a regulator and gas bottle, HP requires gas screw in canisters. My son loves his LP Safari2.Hope this helps.
