So happy with this tea kettle
We are new to tea drinking but as we learned more about different teas and their different temps, decided to look for an electric tea kettle with variable temp settings. The first one we purchased had many features we found useful but unfortunately it was not well made and after going through 2 in 4 months, asked for a refund and started looking for a replacement. Here are the features we wanted and this one had them all: * Multiple Presets (has 4 presets, each can be reprogrammed to fit your temp needs) * Digital screen showing both current and set temp's * 1-degree incremental temperature control * Keep Warm of decent length (2 hrs in this case) * Boil Dry Safety Protection * Decent capacity (in this case 1.7 liters) * Decent wattage (in this case 1500 W) The base unit looks very attractive. The Push Button lid is easy to use and stays open while filling. The kettle also remembers the last temp used and will use that the next time (unless overridden) which is handy. Wasn't sure about the whole smart app feature as it seemed like overkill for a tea kettle, but have found it very handy and can be used to remote start the kettle so water is ready when you get to it. For most things you don't need the app and can do at the kettle, some things do require the app. We have it linked it in to Google so can just say "Turn on the tea kettle". We have not fully explored the app so I am sure there are other useful features as well. Some have mentioned the fill meter is hard to read since its behind the handle. To be honest, I don't even look at it any more. Once you've used it a few times, its easy to know about where to fill to. Some kettles we considered had a fill line bar sticking out that we really did not care for as you have to deal with it when cleaning so the fill being behind the handle is less an issue. I do have one issue with this kettle that I wish were different. Its not enough to take it to 4 stars, but I wish they had not gone this route. For the higher temps, the Keep Warm feature is a bit odd. It IMMEDIATELY kicks in as soon as the water reaches the desired temp. The problem is that the highest Keep Warm temp is 200 degrees - the reason is so that it doesn't boil for 2 hours which I totally understand. But practically its a bit irritating. So if you do say black tea at 212 degrees, just as soon as it hits 212 degrees it goes into Keep Warm mode and starts cooling off to 200 degrees. So unless you are standing next to the pot at that time with everything ready for the water, the temp will be much lower when you are ready to use it. There does not seem to be an easy way to get the temp back up (I tried customer support but they did not seem to understand the issue). I either have to use the app to get it to reheat or turn it off and back on to cancel the Keep Warm and get it heating again. My suggestion if they are reading this is a Hold time of 5 or 10 minutes before it goes into Keep Warm mode. As I said, its an irritant. but I can live with it; the other features more than make up for this one shortcoming. I am truly happy with the kettle and highly recommend it.

A Game-Changer for Your Home Kitchen!
The GoveeLife Smart Electric Kettle has completely transformed my daily routine in the best way possible. From the sleek stainless steel design to the smooth, app-controlled precision, everything about this kettle feels thoughtfully crafted and high-end. The rapid 1500W boil is impressively fast—perfect for busy mornings—and the temperature control is spot-on, making it ideal for everything from delicate teas to piping-hot oatmeal. Pairing it with Alexa was effortless, and having the ability to start heating water with just a voice command or a quick tap in the app feels downright luxurious. The 2-hour keep-warm function is another standout feature, keeping water at the perfect temperature without constantly reboiling. At 1.7 liters, the capacity is generous enough for multiple cups or cooking prep. I also appreciate the BPA-free build and sturdy stainless steel interior—both add to the feeling of safety and durability. Overall, this kettle blends style, performance, and convenience so well that it feels like a must-have for any modern kitchen. If you're looking for a smart kettle that truly delivers, this is the one!

Wanted a networked kettle for a long time
I've wanted a network connected kettle for a long time, but few are made sadly. I get the logistical concerns, not enough water or boiling it out could be a problem, but Govee seems to have worked around that by adding a water sensor. It still tells you not to start it without water, but it should detect if there isn't water and stop heating. It has worked great for me and I just refill it after using it most of the time so it's ready to go. Functionally it's pretty simple, hit the on button, hit the mode button to cycle to the temp you want, use the +/- buttons to fine tune the temperature. That's if you are using it at the device. The beauty of this thing is I can sit in bed in the morning and use the app to turn it on before I get moving so it's ready for my coffee or tea by the time I get to the kitchen. Or better yet, I can schedule it to cut on the night before so the water is ready without me thinking about it in the morning. In the afternoons, on the way home, I can just access Google Assistant once I'm getting close and have it turn the kettle on. Once the water is ready, the kettle beeps and I get a notification on my phone, which is nice. Via the app, you can tweak the preset temperature names (name only matters in the app) and target temps. As well as flag a preset as being for baby formula, so it will boil the water, then cool down to the target temp. You can also turn keep warm on/off and adjust how long it stays warm (1, 1.5, and 2 hours). There is a brewing timer function in the app you can use to time your tea/coffee while you wait on it, though I normally use Alexa for that purpose. You can also adjust other settings, turning the beep on the kettle off for when water is ready, turning off the notification on your phone (separate options for these), and change your temperature units (F vs C). A couple things I wish were a little different. Small nitpick, but I can't tweak the target temperature on the kettle itself once it has started warming without pressing something else before pressing +/-. So if I start it heating to 212, then decide I'm just doing coffee and want to quickly tap - to bring it down to 175, I have to turn it off and back on first usually. The other thing that I would like to see is the ability to control this via the API, right now I can only do it via the Govee app (as of 8/18/2023), Alexa, and Google Assistant. I'd love for it to be exposed on their API so I could integrate it with home assistant. Overall I'm very happy with this kettle, it's kinda been a dream product forever.

Looks like the best smart tea kettle you can get!
UPDATE WENT FROM A FIVE STAR TO A 1 STAR!! Let me explain. When this product works it's flawless! But there is a defect in this product do not buy it!! Even though customer service is great and will give you your money back. Wait until they fix the problem which I don't know if they ever will. Eventually it will ( stop working and beeping ) The beeping is usually because it's saying there's no water in it!! But there's water in it. I originally thought maybe water leaked into the bottom that happens sometimes. In my opinion it is the protection for dry boiling. When it tries to boil and there's nothing in it by an accident All tea kettles have this function. It will shut off automatically.. first tea kettle this happened about four times before it stopped working.. this took about 2 months to happen. They sent me a new tea kettle right away.. it's been about 5 months and the reason why it worked that long is because we were so careful to always have water in it. BUT THIS ONE TIME YOU POUR ALL THE WATER OUT INTO YOUR COFFEE. YOU PUT IT BACK ON THE BASE.. IT'LL AUTOMATICALLY STOP TO TRY TO BOIL CUZ IT DETECTS A LITTLE BIT OF WATER. THEN THE RED LIGHT COMES ON DETECTING THERE'S NO WATER IT'S A SAFETY FEATURE THAT'S SUPPOSED TO WORK!! IT DIDN'T WORK! The next time I used it unplugged it and everything else. Red light detecting no water.. their safety function is garbage that doesn't work right. I have a Kenmore electric tea kettle that's not Wi-Fi I've had for 15 years! You can select temperature manually from like 120 to 212 Not in between stuff. it's about 2 L.. The green light goes off when it reaches temperature so there's no beeping.. My family has made a mistake trying to boil water when there was none in it many times I mean many times!! The shut off comes on automatically saves tea kettle NEVER HAD ONE PROBLEM WITH IT IT STILL WORKS PERFECTLY!! Even water dripping on the sides even getting inside the electrical base because I checked.. Little bit of rust in there STILL WORKS 15 YEARS LATER!! This product that they have is so delicate YOU WILL FORGET TO PUT WATER IN IT BY AN ACCIDENT YOU'RE HUMAN! And it will happen to you and it will break just like this one did.. they need to change the resistance or the resistors or whatever stops it from dry boiling. Until that it's basically garbage!! I COULD HAVE BEEN THE BEST TEA KETTLE EVER!! ------------ I had the Kenmore tea kettle. That thing still works!! But you can only do 200°, and 212 I needed 205.. so you bring it to 200 in a kind of gets to 205. There are plenty of preset settings on the handle!! Not a smart tea kettle but I wanted something that didn't have plastic!! I don't care what anyone says when you use plastic there's an issue. Matter of fact this company has a plastic version of this saying it's safe SORRY IT'S NOT!! You can't mix hot hot water with any plastics in the long run you're eating plastic!! So my daughter decided to cook some some type of WHITE TEA in my Kenmore electric kettle. You only supposed to put water in these so needless to say there was burnt stuff on the bottom which I actually cleaned off took about 2 days. But I already had ordered this one!! THAT ONE STILL WORKS IT'S A BACKUP AFTER 10 YEARS!! And yes they still sell it on Amazon Even though I got it from Sears!! So this kettle does everything that one does except it has a smart app GOVEE and works fall asleep and perfectly easy to pair with the Wi-Fi.. makes it so easy to pour the water in and then have it start automatically the next day.. You can put it on any temperature you want and set your presets inside the app. You can even turn it on with a Google Home, or Alexa. I'm a Google guy so sorry Alexa. Looks like the exact same quality and build as my Kenmore I mean they're identical other than the smart stuff.. kind of pricey but I got a discount. It works great boils everything fast.. The only thing I'm not too sure about is the if you don't have water in there will it shut off. It says it will but a couple of times didn't seem like it was doing that very well. I do have some spots at the bottom of it which did happen to my other one but not as quick.. could just be the thing I just mentioned above.. boil some vinegar and water those spots go away.. so I'm thinking it's just water spots over time who knows. I don't know what else to say.. One negative thing I guess so far in the app every time set the timer for the temperature and pour the water in the night before. It doesn't remember your settings you have to start over again with the 24-hour clock that they show.. I'll try some more to see if I can change that to keep it to do the same thing everyday. Who knows maybe it's a safety thing. No big deal you can set it from anywhere in the world as long as you have water in it and it's plugged in and off.. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS.. FYI I DON'T KNOW ABOUT RELIABILITY MORE GADGETS USUALLY DON'T LAST AS LONG BUT WE'LL SEE!! SO FAR I LOVE IT WITH MY FRENCH PRESS COFFEE!

It's great (until it stops working). Great customer service, though.
This kettle has excellent features - it heats water fast, has multiple temperature modes, you can control how long it keeps warm. It's also Wi-Fi enabled and can be used with Amazon Alexa to set routines - I have mine set to turn on every morning before work for my morning French press coffee. (I always refill it with water after using so it's always full for the next day) However, after about 18 months, it stopped working. It would start to heat up, then beep and the power button would flash red, then it would just turn off. No idea why. I contacted GoveeLife (via Amazon, GoveeLife's web site and e-mail - no phone calls) and they very quickly responded and sent me a new, perfectly functional kettle (like within days). No idea how long it will last. I'm only deducting one star because the customer service and responsiveness was so good. If this new one dies within a year, I'll likely deduct another star just because clearly the longevity is not there. I wondered why it stopped working. I read through other reviews and noticed this does tend to happen with these kettles. Someone mentioned that they thought the kettle was falsely triggering a safety warning for trying to heat up an empty kettle (falsely triggering because it was erroneously happening when the kettle was full of water). That might be. As a test, I placed my new kettle carafe (filled with water) on the old kettle base and turned the old kettle base on to heat up the water (in the new kettle carafe) - and it worked perfectly. So, the base/induction heating element is likely fine. I suspect that the issue is not with the base, but with the carafe itself (just a theory). I'm guessing something in the bottom of the carafe probably wore out (maybe heat damage in the coil/connector that sits on top of the base/induction heater). I think a couple of times my kettle was left empty (not by me, but by someone else in the house) and then turned on the next day per the Alexa routine. This might have heat-damaged the carafe base - although not immediately enough to cause problems. (That's purely a theory - nothing to back that up, really - but it kind of makes sense given what I observed) - So I think it's important to NOT ever turn this on with an empty carafe (which I'm guessing they warn against in the instructions). Probably just replacing the carafe would have been sufficient in my case - but like I said, GoveeLife thankfully replaced the entire product, which I thought was great. Anyway, I'm happy, for now - the new kettle seems to be working and hopefully it continues to do so. Just know, these things might not last very long and I will be very careful to ensure it's not left empty with the Alexa routine enabled. Still, I think it's a good value for the money and I've gotten my money's worth out of it.

Love this kettle!
I love this kettle. The Bluetooth function makes it so handy. I can tell Alexa to start my kettle and at a specific temperature. It is programmable and will hold temperatures for up to 30 minutes. It looks very sleek on the counter, isn't too heavy, and works quickly. This is my favorite kettle I've ever had!

Great customer service response
I’ve had this kettle for about a year and a half and I really like it. Heats up fast. Temp is accurate. Easy to clean. My wife uses it for tea. I use it for flair espresso. After about 16 months, it stopped working. I contacted support through the info on Amazon, and sent them a photo of the error screen. By the next day they had shipped me a replacement unit. Great customer service. 5/5 would recommend.

Great kettle until it stops working
Like many others this kettle worked really well until it just randomly stopped working. I bought this kettle in March 2025 and we used it daily, sometimes multiple times a day. It was great! My only complaint was that the body of the kettle isn’t insulated so it’s hot to the touch and water cools quickly if you don’t have the “keep warm” feature on. By the end of December 2025, the kettle will not work because it’s not sensing any water, even though the kettle is full of fresh water. I tried taking it apart to see if water had gotten into the components (others have noted that this kettle sometimes leaks) but it was dry. I’ve tried using the app to reset the kettle, unplugged it, all of the usual troubleshooting but it refuses to work. I’m extremely disappointed that this arguably expensive kettle did not last longer. I won’t be purchasing another kettle from Govee.
