Q: Are they completely metal or is there some plastic?

They are all metal except the black which is rubber. I've had mine over two years with no problems.

Q: the left and right pedal are sent, correct? As in, you send two pedals. My father is confusing me and telling me to order two

They come as a pair, so just order "one." All pedals have a left and right--the one on the right side has normal, right-hand thread, while the left one has left-hand thread. They are generally marked with L and R on the end of the threaded stem. So just be sure to remove the left one by turning in the direction that would normally tighten a bolt, and turn in the loosening direction when turning in the new one on the left side. You don't have to worry about getting them tight enough--they tighten automatically as you pedal.

Q: Can I pop one of the reflectors off and add toe clips?

I'm pretty sure that the reflectors are double-face tape of some kind and can be worked off carefujly. The pedals are very well built and beefy. As long as you have clips that can be adjusted these are like old-school ones. I used them a lot and can say they are a very good value and will recommend them.

Q: Up at the top it says they’re 1/2 inch then down in the description it says they’re 9/16 which is it

There is no intelligent answer as to why this is, but a pedal stud (axle) measuring 7/16" dia. uses a 1/2" pedal and a 1/2" dia. stud (axle) uses a 9/16" pedal!! Why?? I don't know. Please, expert bicycle mechanics, please shed some light. Online articles don't touch on this subject for some reason. Makes it hard for the novice to order pedals. Took me 2 tries. I measured the old pedal stud (axle) diameter and ordered that size. THAT WASN'T IT! It's not like intelligent automotive measurements where the stud diameter is the same size as the fastener, duh.
