Clever and manipulative
Thaddeus Murphy has been practicing law for a long time. He views things from a different perspective than the average attorney? He's very clever. I find him intriguing and don't always catch the angle he's taking. This book is about a murder that was due to an absolutely horrible excuse for a man or human. With so many confessions, how do we deduce the truth? As we wade through all the testimony and expert witness stories, facts become muddled. The defendants are manipulative, which doesn't help. Also, the threat of disbarment does not ease the battle Thaddeus is fighting. Then add his wife, Christine's traumatic accident. This is alot for Thaddeus to continue is beloved passion of practicing law.Its easy to see why someone who's been successful, might consider throwing in the towel.

Good book
As a criminologist I believe the investigation by the police and the private investigator should have been more thorough . Of course I am a couch quarterback. And the book needed more plot if in fact there was a through investigation.

Never judge a book by its cover
First of all, this book was a masterpiece. I really did enjoy the book, it gave me a new aspect on law, I have two cousins and a daughter in law and I get to understand how difficult it is in the court room. John has opened my minds eyes to understand that all that glitters is not really good. We interact with people and think we know them, but truth and fact we dont know them at all, they sometimes gives us mixed feelings. The way that John wrote this book, you had to be concentrating well to understand what was really happening, some people get themselves into trouble and then try to twist the law for their own gain, not thinking what it can cause you the attorney and how they can jeopardise your life. After finished reading, I thought that Sheila was very cunning and manipulative all she cared about herself and her daughter, she didn't care about the injustice she was doing to Thaddeus, and in the end cause him to give up on something he loved doing in his life. Thank you John for for the inspiration that you have given me and always craving for more of your books, The Crime was an eye opener. You are truly blessed. Keep up the good works.

The trail of the century, and who was found guilty? Thad???-
Thad finally gets his butt handed to him, and by whom? The mother daughter murderers or maybe some crooked political hack? It seems that everything went right for his defendants but that was where it ended cause everything went wrong for him, or did it? Did Thad finally find what he was looking for all along? Just then more family problems arrive and Thad is in danger again. See if you can make sense of it, it sure screwed up my tiny little brain.

A legal thriller with an teresting Premis
I have been reading the Thadeus Murphey legal thrillers from the very first book release. This, like all in the series was a very good read. Not one of the best in the series. But, only because there have been so many exceptional books in this series. Just because it isn't one of the best does not mean it is not a great read. This book has some interesting twists most interesting of all is that this is a who dunit book that we are left wondering, who did the dirty deed. That question is never answered. However, the book does have a satisfying conclusion.Bottom line... If yiu are a Thadeus Murphey fan, of if you just like a great legal thriller, pick up this title.

The long awaited 11th Thaddeus Murfee.
I always start my book reviews saying I don’t like to do a complete synapses of the book. Many other reviewers do and one more is just unnecessary. But as is the case with all of Mr. Ellsworth’s books, and I’ve read them all, this one was excellent. Great story, great writing, and a rather surprise ending. And as always, a couple of almost sleepless nights because I just couldn’t stop reading. And, on top of it all, a pretty heavy hint that there will be another Thaddeus Murfee coming soon. You do not need to read the 10 previous books in the Thaddeus Murfee series in order to not get lost with this one. Anything that you need to know is mentioned. But do yourself a favor and do read the series. All are great reads and spell out the deeper inner working of Thaddeus and his family. Then, move on to his other series and read them. All great books that keep you engrossed and will make you glad you did read them.

Excellent read
Quick read with page turning intensity. Enjoyable characters, much like James Patteson. I would highly recommend. Just enough varied content for a mystery lover.

Not interesting
I am not impressed with the beginning and don’t find the plot interesting. I would have returned it if I had started earlier. I may not finish it. Sorry. I have read book from this author that I really liked. But this one just doesn’t grab me.

a convoluted contrived plot that ends with a commercial
I've read quite a few legal crime thrillers by different authors, and this one just left me more than disappointed. The plot and actions of the lawyers and police in this story were amateurish at best, and the writing style just doesn't paint that imagery that some others do so well. Near the end, this novel unexpectedly derails, changing suddenly to a completely different story with new characters introduced, and it the reader is treated to what amounts to an introductory commercial for his next novel.

Intriguing
What a wonderful and exciting masterpiece. The court case as usual was surprising and the writing superb. I have really enjoyed all of John Ellsworth's novels. Looking forward to many more.
