Q: I need to velcro the edges of my curtains to the wall because I work 3rd shift and the sun is evil. Is this strong enough to hold the edges down?

Velcro is strong -- strong enough to rip delicate curtains. You might consider using magnets instead. Just look up magnetic tape on Amazon. Depending on how heavy your fabric is, make sure you buy tape that is strong enough. Cheaper thin tapes can only hold very light objects, i.e. index cards.

Q: Is this product strong enough to strap something small like an iPod mini or shuffle on the wrist or bicep?

I am using it on something heavier than an iPod and it works great. The point of weakness I think would be the tape, not the Velcro. So are you going to affix it to a piece of clothing or something by sewing? I think you will be fine. If you are counting on the sticky side to hold, I do don't think it will work

Q: Will this ruin the paint on the wall?

Yes, most likely. If want something removable use command strips. The work pretty good and can be removed. They have Velcro styles that may work for your application.
