How big are the pieces?

The pieces are around 4 to 5 inches high.

what is the height of the figures?

The figures range in height from - I am estimating since the box is so well sealed I do not want to open it as it is a gift - 2+" for the Baby Jesus in the manger to about 5-6" for the standing figures. The set is very elegant-looking, not a real modern look like the one type of figurines are and not real old fashioned like the Italian-style nativities appear. The figures do not look large or bulky like some nativity figures appear. This is a very pretty set, trimmed with gold and the holly leaf and berries that are found on one of the Lenox Chirstmas china patterns. I really think they are elegant looking. I purchased one set for a wedding gift and a second set for a wedding next spring. Whenever I look at that second set, I am so tempted to keep it for myself. We like to give nativities for wedding gifts since no one has ever duplicated this gift for the many couples we have purchased gifts for in the past.
