The War to Prevent the Rise of A Black Messiah
A powerful and shocking revelation of the FBI's continuing Counterinsurgency Program against Black leaders and organizations. I was familiar with the FBI's War against the Black Panthers, the persecution of the MOVE organization, and the infamous Hip Hop cop unit that was assigned to follow rappers. I was shocked however at the level intelligence agencies were involved in the constant harassment, surveillance and pursuit of Tupac Shakur. Tupac was more than just an entertainer and the powers that be knew this. He was a Black Panther cub who used his Thuglife persona to politicize the Black youth. I know because I was one of those youths. It seems there were many attempts to kill him before his tragic assassination. The chapter on the war against Black musicians was equally shocking. I knew the CIA and State Department were watching Bob Marley and Peter Tosh. I am convinced they were both killed for politicizing the Rastafarian movement. But Jimi Hendrix too? I was rendered speechless at that. This is a book is explosive and was much needed.

Absolutely historic
This book changed my life. I do not BS you. The author makes his case so successfully that this book will be marked as a reference for many further generations. (If humanity can kill the beast standing in it's way) Anyone in today's "as is" world of conventional, mainstream society will really struggle with how to handle the implications of what is presented here. If we could get the majority of white America to read this book things would look a lot better. So many crucial facts and realities about the CURRENT world we live in are brought to the world in this book. The author brings you ALL the way up to speed, so to speak. This book is so inspirational I saw the email from Amazon reminding me and I had to sit down and tell the world how I feel about this book. Thousands of hours of research must to have gone into writing this. Brilliant

Very Informative
With alot references and sources to add credibility to his premises, the author presents a very interesting read on the subject of government intervention into the media and other industries. Proposed as a tactical maneuver to achieve its aims both domestic and international; a good read.

Invaluable contribution to modern U.S. history
There is not a more important contribution to our collective understanding of modern U.S. history. We are not able to know the stories of the social and ecological justice movements in the United States outside of the context of their relationships to COINTELPRO and of their violent manipulation by agencies our government. In a part of the world suffering badly from cultural amnesia, John Potash has taken an important step toward healing our collective memory. Very well researched and cited, this book offers invaluable illumination of the civil rights movement and of the directed evolution of our predominant cultures. Every person interested in United States history should read this.

A Conspiracy theorist's dream
This book is packed with tons of information about various conspiracy theories that have taken place where the targets were African American celebrities and public figures. There is way too much information to verify how accurate all of the theories are but they are definitely fascinating and alarming. I could not put this book down once I started reading it and applaud the author on his diligent hard work and efforts. I give it four stars because once again it would take forever to verify the accuracy of all of these claims but if you enjoy reading about conspiracy theories this is one book you must have in your library.

Arrived earlier than expected
Came earlier than expected and provides valuable insight into topics not unbiasedly reported by the media so is rather informative

Good, but too much.
Too much information per chapter. Each chapter could be its own book. A new name was mentioned every other sentence and it was nearly impossible to follow. Of course i would rather have too much than too little, and I did finish it more educated than when I started

At times abit difficult to read because of the way it's written but, extremely interesting!!! The extent to which the CIA involvement in global politics stretches is immense and unbelievable!
