Old designs don't fail
This is just a rerelease of a classic lead holder design, and because of this you'd think it's perfect, which it actually is in many ways.Cheap (lots of similarly priced lead holders, have plastic chassis)Solid (metal internals and external, being coated with a rubbery plastic grip)Integrated sharpenerGood lengthIt's great to write with, but due to the plastic, your hand might get a bit sweaty.

Some failings, but overall very good
I bought this pencil and two types of lead (4B and 8B) - I already owned 2B.I loaded up the 8B lead and immediately was impressed... and then the lead snapped inside. I extended it, sharpened it, put it back in to a reasonable length and started drawing again- not long after, the graphite broke again. And it kept breaking, until I'd worked through 2 lengths of lead in just a few days. This was not going to be the saving I thought it would be. It seems like inside the pencil, behind the metal part which grips the lead, there's nothing stabilising the lead in place, so if you draw with any pressure/any sideways flex, the lead snaps immediately behind the part that's gripping. Bit of a design flaw. However, I switched the 8B lead out for 2B lead and it hasn't broken a single time, so my overall feeling is that this type of pencil simply isn't compatible with the softer "B" grade leads. Luckily I have another (unbranded) mechanical pencil of a different design, which I've now put the 8B lead into- since making the switch I've had no more breakages, so my review is that this Koh-i-noor pencil is only appropriate for using with harder leads. The pencil has what seems to be a metal body and comes with a pocket clip and, inside the button at the end, a tiny little sharpener which works perfectly and is so well designed in its integration into the product that it was only by luck I even realised it was there! Lovely touch. The metal body means this pencil should be rugged and last a long time, but it does make it quite heavy in the hand. Not so much that it causes issues- and the weight is spread equally down the pencil so it doesn't make any balance problems, but it IS heavier than my other clutch pencils (including another Koh-i-noor, a 5211, which has a plastic body and no pocket clip) and I've found that I prefer the lighter bodies to the metal- if I were using this as a technical pencil/in a workshop, rather than for artwork, then I imagine the heavier body would be the better option- it comes down to your preference. It certainly feels like a quality item in your hand.I do find that the pencil comes unscrewed a little easily, but this is just a mild inconvenience. My main issue has been that it isn't compatible with Koh-i-Noor's own 8B graphite sticks, so be alert to that if you are intending on using the two together: search out a mechanical pencil, rather than a clutch pencil, which has more internal support up the length of the graphite.

Quality clutch pencil
Good quality clutch pencil. I've been using it for 4 months now and it has travelled all over and been dropped a good few times. The pencil is easy to hold - not too slippy and a good 'normal' width. The mechanism pencil grips the lead very securely. Good range of leadsavailable. The 'F' leads I use have never broken even after all the dropping! There is a handy (if a little messy) sharpener in the top. The top has once come off in my bag, but no lead fell out of the pencil (maybe I was lucky).I've not used the clip much, but it moves up and down the pencil and will stay put where you leave it.The manufacturing quality is excellent - very sturdy.

Great 2mm lead holder, does the job and is easy to spot in the pencil case.

Cool
Nice pencil, had to buy for some red lead since I didn’t have its size. The lead comes out fast when you push down to get more that it just falls out the pencil.I have to remove the metal but cause it kept irritating my hand and stabbing me

Feels good, but the lead it comes with is coarse.
the pencil itself is great and not to expensive. but get some better leads, the one it comes with is kinda rough.

Nice pencil at a nice price
Very nice clutch pencil. Particualrly good value. It's painted metal, so I guess it's robust. I like the way the lead sharpener screws into the top. I find myself picking it up more often than a Staedtler Mars clutch pencil I have. Possibly not the nicest HB lead but that's eaily fixed.

Nice pencil
I like everything about this clutch pencil so far. Most importantly I find it very comfortable to hold in use. The shape is just like a standard hexagonal pencil and the balance is good. The plastic can get a little sweaty/slippery with prolonged use, but I find that with traditional pencils too.Very happy with this.

I was given one of these 62 years ago. It still works, but I lost the button. I bought a new button and it fit the old pencil. I bought a new pencil as well and it is identical to the one I received 62 years ago. Nice to see a quality product unchanged and still being manufactured after all these years.

Cannot grip 2mm leads properly - Snaps softer grade leads
This product looks and feels good, but the function is lacking.I am used to Staedtler, Faber Castell, and Mitsubishi 2mm lead holders. Those all hold the lead securely with no wobbling around. However, this Koh-I-Noor 5201 and the 5900 do not hold any 2mm lead properly. No lead from any brand is held firmly.Even the lead that shipped with the lead holders was insecurely held. The worst part is that because the lead is pinched at one point, it creates a stress concentration that snaps softer leads. The Koh-I-Noor 6B and 8B leads are completely useless in their own lead holders because of this issue. If you want to use the (very good) Koh-I-Noor 6B or 8B leads, do NOT use this lead holder. This lead holder is ok to use with harder lead grades despite the wobble.PROS:Looks goodFeels goodCONS:Lead wobblesSnaps softer lead
