Interesting read
I enjoyed reading Traveler. The storyline was informative, descriptive, and kept my interest. I particularly enjoyed the author’s writing style as it fostered curiosity as to the direction the story would go.

Traveler will make a great movie.
What a wonderful book: interesting, a fast read and hard to put down (I couldn't).The attention to creating a full context that transports the reader into the moment is exceptionally well done. Two of the most powerful aspects are the transfer of the emotional context to the reader and the wonderfully positive overall theme. The story moves so quickly that you can almost feel real physical movement. The real life detail that brings the reader into the moment is powerful and feels very real. A sequel is warranted as is a movie.

Captivating and historical read
Ended up reading this book in one sitting. It teaches you a history that a lot of people probably never knew about. The author draws you in and keeps you guessing as to what will happen next. If you want an enjoyable read, that teaches you some history, this book might just be the one for you.

Very well done Irish story
Traveler was very well written and was very descriptive of early 20th century Ireland and the hardships these people faced. Very interesting twists and turns kept you engaged at all times.

Good read
An interesting piece of history, one I was unfamiliar with. His description of life in Ireland was heartbreaking, but sadly accurate in its detail. Thank you for the education!

An imformative, touching read!
What a great story... I read it in two days, which is unusual for me. A touching, informative story! A must read for anyone, like me, delving into the life and history of the Ireland of their ancestors.

Brings to life my ancestors' experiences
I never felt I knew enough about my forebears and the experiences that brought them to the New World. This book describes the sacrifices, and the world forces that brought them and so many others here. Many were young and naive, and some didn't survive the journey or their initial years of work in menial or even dangerous jobs. This is a readable story with a message. I highly recommend it to those with an interest in Irish American history

Really good read!
A really good story with historical context woven in. The events that brought many young Irish and English children to North America are heartbreaking. I enjoyed reading, some tears were shed, and now I want to read more of his work. I can’t say more, don’t want to spoil any surprises. Buy the book, you will enjoy.

Wonderfully written, loved it.
Excellent depiction of what happened with so many children who were promised a better life than what they had. This is a fiction version, based on facts known to the author, and follows the story of a young Irish boy. Heartache, laughter, hope, and mystery abound. The human spirit is resilient beyond imagination for some of these children. Highly recommend this book!

A magnificent book
I read 3-4 books a week, but this is the first time I have ever posted an opinion. I loved this book. (I "paused" my reading at 96% of the book because I didn't want it to end! I did go back and read the remaining 4%.) I completely fell in love with Neddy and Timmy. Magnificent writing by a talented author. The characters were so well portrayed and real. I would love to read more about the lives and experiences of Neddy and Timmy. Congratulations to the author.

Wonderful story
I just loved this book. Beautifully written and I actually felt transported back in time with the writer to my beautiful homeland, but also the emotion of my ancestors who had to leave their homes and be shipped off to places mentioned in this fabulous book. I would recommend it to anyone but especially to those from Ireland. Great writing thank you.

A captivating read
What an excellent read. What I find moving about this book is that, although it is fiction, it is based on the author's father's experience in being part of the British Home Children program - a deeply flawed, albeit well intentioned program that resulted in heart-break and often misery, abuse and death. This was the program that took children from their families in Britain to give them a supposed "better life" in Canada, working as indentured servants/farm workers. The shipping off of the children was often done through lying or grossly misrepresenting the program to everyone - the families back in Ireland, the children themselves and to the families in Canada.Set in 1920, the author also builds in mention of the Irish Civil War and Magdalene Laundries. He is quite rightly harsh in his depiction of the Catholic Church and their involvement in the lives of their parishioners. From the research I've done and the history I've read, what is depicted here is an accurate telling of the program and its impacts, so kudos to the author.A compelling read.
