HafeleDoor Mounted - Quick Auto Spring Catch - For Push To Open Cupboard Doors - Zinc Plated

Designed originally I think for kitchen cupboard doors, with an 'invisible' push-push action, this is just what I've wanted for years to restrain doors in their open position (against wind blowing through the house). No longer need two hands to operate a conventional hook-and-ring latch, just use this with its push to secure, push again to release action. Very neat mechanism, strongly made, easily holds heavy doors in position. Requires about 1.8kg push force to latch, has positive over-centre action for reliable retention as force is removed; then to release 1.8kg push force again only about 1mm travel required. Altogether excellent. Strongly recommend.Wish it was still available in the classier brass effect finish ... I might make simple brass cover sheets to complement the oak blocks I've mounted the latches on ... brass and oak look so good together.

The main item here is great quality, but there us a problem. The little plastic clip.The little plastic clip is utter rubbish. I have 5 of these on a set of doors, and the one on the largest door broke. I thought that my door was too large (200 x 60 cm), so I put that down to experience, and made a steel one. Over the last year all of the rest of the clips have broken - right down to the smallest door (50 x 60 cm). Each is now using a clip I have made myself from either wood or metal.The whole product is let down by this clip. The main part looks like something you could run over with a bus and it would still work - the clip however, don't even breath on it.

Great spring loaded catches. I found these better than the push rods type, they are much stronger with no rod sticking out getting in the way. The spring strong enough to push heavier doors open.

bit fiddly to fit but if you know what you're doing its not too much hassle. just adjusting them to have the loft door finish flush was the biggest problem. They seem strong and reliable, time will tell. Postage was fast and on time
